Porsche x Resident Evil: Unexpected, But Strategically Smart
Porsche and Capcom are joining forces to literally bring the Cayenne Turbo GT into the game. The car acts as Leon’s regular companion in Resident Evil Requiem, which was released for PC and consoles on 27 February 2026.
Not only digitally, by the way: Porsche also built a unique showcar, unveiled in Los Angeles, with specific design elements inspired by the game. Gaming today is a global cultural ecosystem. And Porsche understands that the brand needs to stay relevant with a new generation of enthusiasts.
Why the Cayenne Turbo GT Makes Sense
On paper, a glossy German super-SUV in a post-apocalyptic world seems absurd. Resident Evil traditionally revolves around decaying infrastructure, Umbrella Corporation bio-experiments and muddy, desolate settings.
But from a technical standpoint, the choice is rational. The Cayenne Turbo GT delivers 631 hp from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. That means: speeding away from anything no longer entirely human. The increased ground clearance helps with rubble and obstacles. And the boot space? Perfect for mysterious puzzle items, weapons and survival gear. The SUV is also visually powerful, muscular and dominant. Just like Leon.
Pop Culture as a Marketing Strategy
Deniz Keskin, Director Brand Management & Partnerships at Porsche, described the collaboration as a way to connect Porsche with global pop culture. That is no coincidence.
Car brands today are looking for relevance beyond the classic auto show or TV commercial. They want to be in games, series and streaming platforms. Think of how supercars in GTA or Forza influenced a generation. By linking an iconic character like Leon to a Cayenne Turbo GT, Porsche subtly embeds itself in the frame of reference of millions of gamers. And gamers become buyers.
AutoNext Take
Is it a bizarre combination? Yes. Resident Evil is raw, dark and chaotic. The Cayenne Turbo GT is clinically fast, sharp and premium.
But that is precisely why it works. Porsche shows confidence here. The brand does not need to lower itself to gimmicks. It positions the Cayenne as the ultimate performance instrument, even in fictional extreme circumstances. Strategically, this is smarter than yet another Nürburgring record. Because would you rather reach 50,000 petrolheads? Or tens of millions of gamers worldwide?
Still, there is one caveat: the Cayenne Turbo GT is not an accessible Porsche. It is a top-tier version within an already premium segment. The chance that young gamers identify with this model as future buyers is smaller than, say, with a 718 or Macan.
But as halo placement? Perfect. Surviving zombies suddenly seems like a lucrative job.
