2024 Ferrari 296 GTB

The Ferrari 296 GTB is, in short, a brilliant car. Abnormally fast, surprisingly comfortable and dripping with Ferrari theatre, it blends an 830 hp hybrid V6 with genuine everyday usability. The touch controls and the questionable CarPlay integration annoy, but the way the engine and electric motor work together is spectacular. This is Ferrari at the top of its game.

2026 Mercedes-Benz C 400 4MATIC electric

The C 400 4MATIC electric is the first fully electric C-Class, and Mercedes is keen to sell it as the sportiest one yet, with 490 hp and a 4.0-second sprint to 100 km/h. We came away more impressed by the everyday case: a hushed, air-sprung ride, a genuinely useful AI assistant and up to 762 km of WLTP range. The rear design and a cheap-feeling black panel are our main gripes, and at €67,000 it is not cheap, but this is a hugely convincing debut.

2026 Citroën ë-C5 Aircross

The electric Citroën ë-C5 Aircross does the most Citroen thing possible: it puts comfort first. Progressive Hydraulic Cushions suspension, lovely seats and a clean, clever cabin make it a genuinely relaxing family EV, and in the Long Range we drove it backs that up with a realistic 680 km of range and a huge boot. It is not quick, the plastics and some Stellantis switchgear disappoint, and the fast-charging is only moderate, but as a comfortable, spacious and keenly priced SUV it makes a strong case.

2025 Fiat 500 Hybrid Torino

The petrol Fiat 500 is back, wearing the electric 500e's styling but with a FireFly mild-hybrid engine, a slick manual gearbox and, at last, a sixth gear. It is small, nippy, beautifully styled and refreshingly full of physical buttons, and it barely sips fuel: we covered nearly 700 km on its tiny tank. For city life, it is close to genius.

Gordon Murray's new S1 is a 690hp McLaren F1 tribute built for the open road, not the racetrack

Spyker keeps dying as a car company, so its comeback is to stop being one

Spyker is back, unveiling the C8 Preliator XXV Coupé at Monterey: an 800 hp twin-turbo V8 with a real six-speed manual, hand-built in a run of just 25 cars at around 2,100 hours each, with founder Victor Muller returned. After going bankrupt and swallowing Saab, the Dutch marque has died repeatedly chasing volume it could never fund. This time the plan is the opposite: refuse to scale, and sell craft and the manual to 25 collectors. Its smallness is finally the point.

The Brabus Bodo Cabriolet is one of the last new open-top V12 grand tourers

Brabus has revealed the Bodo Cabriolet, the open-top version of its 1,000 hp V12 tribute to founder Bodo Buschmann, built like the coupe on an Aston Martin Vanquish and limited to 77 cars. Mechanically it mirrors the coupe, but the roof is the story: a brand-new, front-engined, twelve-cylinder convertible grand tourer is now nearly extinct. Mercedes and Bentley have abandoned the format, leaving only Ferrari and Aston, which is why this German tribute had to be built on a British car.

Cadillac spent 20 years faking racing pedigree, the V-One concept finally has the real thing

Cadillac revealed the V-One, a single-seat, track-only concept with an 842 hp hybrid V8 that shares suspension hardware with its Le Mans-winning V-Series.R and aims to lap within 10% of it. Almost every concept claims a racing bloodline; the V-One is the rare one that can prove it. After twenty years of the V badge borrowing a performance image it had not earned, Cadillac's real endurance wins mean the pedigree is finally a parts list, not a costume.

The purest Lamborghini ever is also its most electrified, and that is no accident

The Revuelto SV is the most powerful Lamborghini ever, 1,065 hp, with a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 that revs to 9,500 rpm and a Hockenheim production lap record. Lamborghini calls it its purest DNA, yet it is also its most electrified car, a plug-in hybrid with three motors. That is not a contradiction: the electric hardware is exactly what lets an atmospheric V12 survive modern rules. The battery is not the enemy of the twelve, it is its life support.

If Porsche really is killing the Taycan, it is not because the EV failed

A WirtschaftsWoche report says Porsche will wind down the Taycan by 2030 after sales collapsed from nearly 41,000 in 2023 to around 6,000 in the first half of 2026. Porsche has not confirmed it. The easy conclusion is that Porsche's electric flagship failed and the EV boom is over. It is the wrong one: in the same period Porsche's electric Macan thrived. The Taycan is not being killed by electricity but by a body style, the sports sedan, which is dying across every fuel type.
