2026 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport Hybrid

The sixth-generation Toyota RAV4 GR Sport is a suspiciously good SUV: tough-looking, superbly built and refreshingly full of physical buttons. The smooth hybrid drivetrain returned 5.9 l/100km on test, and the GR Sport chassis is firm yet comfortable. Only over-eager safety systems, hard cabin plastics and a steep GR Sport price hold it back.

2026 Opel Astra Hybrid

The facelifted Opel Astra is one of the most complete cars in its class. It looks fantastic, drives with an easy, eager nippiness, and returned a frugal 5.0 litres per 100 km on our run. Add real buttons, an excellent driving position and clever Intelli-Lux HD headlights, and only the colour range and a near-35,000 euro Ultimate price hold it back.

2026 BMW iX3 50 xDrive

BMW has spent years promising that the Neue Klasse would reset the brand. The 2026 iX3 50 xDrive is the first car to deliver on it, and it largely succeeds: a genuinely intuitive new iDrive, a clever full-width Panoramic display, more than 800 km of claimed range and 400 kW charging that makes range anxiety feel old-fashioned. There are small gripes, but this is the most convincing electric BMW yet.

2025 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore

We have loved the GranCabrio since 2009, so replacing its glorious V8, then V6, with electric motors sounded like a nightmare. Then we drove the Folgore. It looks as gorgeous as ever, delivers an absurd 750 hp, and stays every bit the refined, elegant grand tourer. The boot is tiny and the range is short for a GT, and the weight blunts the handling, but as a beautiful way to travel with the roof down, it works.

The last W16 Bugatti has been built, and it's the end of an era

Bugatti has completed the final W16 Mistral in its Molsheim Atelier, the last of 99, ending series production of the 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 that powered the Veyron, Chiron and Mistral for two decades. The final car wears a Pearl and Sparkle livery with a plate reading The last of its kind. The Mistral bows out as the world's fastest open-top production car at 453.91 km/h. Only two W16 one-offs remain to be delivered before the V16 hybrid Tourbillon takes over.

ABT celebrates 130 years by turning the Audi RS3 into a 630 hp monster

For its 130th anniversary, ABT Sportsline has revealed the RS3-630, the second of three special editions after the RS6-LE 800. A new turbo, intercooler and water/ethanol injection lift the Audi RS3's five-cylinder to around 630 hp and 700 Nm, with a 300 km/h top speed. Just 30 will be built, with the package costing 58,000 euro plus roughly 9,500 euro installation, on top of the donor car. Sales start in July 2026.

The Range Rover Sport Electric is here, and it's fast, but there's a catch

Land Rover has introduced the Range Rover Sport Electric, its second EV after the Range Rover Electric, promising the fastest and most dynamic Sport yet. Official specs follow later in 2026, but reports point to around 550 hp, a 118.5 kWh battery on 800-volt tech charging from 10 to 80% in about 20 minutes, a price from roughly 100,000 pounds and first deliveries in early 2027. The catch: a targeted range of 480 to 530 km, modest for such a big battery.

Dubai-based Venuum is building six modern interpretations of the Ferrari F40 Spider, called the V40 Spyder, based on the Ferrari SF90 Spider. Its twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors deliver around 1,100 hp, 0-100 km/h in about 2.3 seconds and a top speed beyond 340 km/h. The carbon body channels the F40 with slim LED lights, round taillights, a fixed wing and the signature triple central exhaust. All six will be fully bespoke; the price is undisclosed.
