World premiere at the Brussels Motor Show: Kia EV2
With the Kia EV2, Kia takes a decisive step in the democratisation of electric driving. At the unveiling in Brussels, the brand presents its most accessible electric SUV to date, developed specifically for Europe and built in Europe. The EV2 positions itself in the popular B-SUV segment and combines compact dimensions with a surprising amount of space, technology and flexibility.
The EV2 thus becomes the new entry-level model in Kia’s rapidly growing EV line-up, alongside models such as the EV6, EV9, EV4 and EV3, without compromising on innovation or ease of use.
Electric SUV tailored to Europe
The EV2 was designed with European driving habits and lifestyles in mind. With a length of around four metres, it is perfectly suited to urban environments, while its proportions and SUV stance also make it a fully-fledged family car beyond the city.
According to Kia, the EV2 is not aimed at being “a second car”, but rather the household’s primary vehicle, a striking statement in this segment.
Design: Opposites United in compact form
Visually, the EV2 fits seamlessly with Kia’s recent electric models. The design follows the ‘Opposites United’ philosophy, with a confident, upright SUV stance.
Characteristic elements include:
vertical daytime running lights
the latest Star Map Light Signature
muscular wheel arches
a pronounced shoulder line
Wheel sizes range from 16 to 19 inches, while the colour palette consists of solid, metallic, pearlescent and matte paint finishes. For those who want it sportier, the GT-Line adds high-gloss accents and body-coloured details, inspired by outdoor adventure.
Interior: surprisingly spacious and cleverly laid out
Inside, the EV2 surprises with an open and calming cockpit, inspired by the concept of a “Picnic Box”: logically laid out, warmly finished and maximally usable.
The dashboard wraps around the occupants and creates a sense of space normally expected in higher segments.
The EV2 introduces Kia’s latest triple-screen ccNC infotainment system:
12.3” digital instrument cluster
5.3” separate climate screen
12.3” central touchscreen
For the first time, there is also ccNC Lite, a simplified but equally intuitive version with OTA updates and Kia Upgrades, developed specifically to keep technology accessible.
Unique in the segment: sliding and reclining rear seats
An absolute strength of the EV2 is its innovative rear-seat configuration. Customers can choose between:
a classic five-seat layout
or a four-seat layout with individually sliding and reclining rear seats
Legroom grows from 885mm to a segment-leading 958mm. In maximum load mode, the EV2 offers up to 403 litres of boot space, complemented by a 15-litre frunk, which is unique in this segment.
Electric performance without compromise
The Kia EV2 comes with two battery options:
42.2kWh: up to 317km range
61.0kWh: up to 448km range
(WLTP, final homologation pending)
Both versions feature a 400V architecture and fast charging from 10 to 80% in around 29-30 minutes.
Notably, the EV2 supports both 11kW and 22kW AC charging, ideal for home and public charging points, a clear European focus.
Connected, smart and future-focused
The EV2 is equipped with technology normally expected in higher classes:
EV Route Planner with Kia Charge
Plug & Charge
bidirectional charging via V2L and V2G
full Kia App integration
Digital Key via NFC, Bluetooth and UWB
On the safety front, the EV2 offers an extensive ADAS package, including:
Highway Driving Assist 2
Front Collision Avoidance Assist 2.0
Remote Smart Parking Assist (unique in the segment)
Surround View Monitor & Blind-spot View Monitor
Sustainable to the core
Kia underlines its sustainability ambitions with ten applied material solutions, including:
bio-based and BTX-free paints
bio-based plastics
upholstery in bio-PU
carpets made from recycled PET nets
Production takes place in Zilina (Slovakia), which results in shorter logistics chains and a lower ecological footprint. The EV2 is the second fully electric model to be built there, after the EV4.
