The new Opel Astra undergoes a thorough transformation in 2026. Not just a facelift, but an evolution that redefines the model: more technical, more modern and remarkably upmarket. With a sharpened Vizor front, the first illuminated Opel Blitz logo ever on an Astra, Intelli-Lux HD headlights with more than 50,000 individual light segments and an interior made entirely from recycled materials, the Astra stays true to its German DNA but lifts it to a new level.

Design: the most technical Astra ever

The Astra gets a far more precise, tighter look. The new Vizor is narrower and more sharply cut, inspired by the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo. The illuminated Opel Blitz logo forms the heart of the new Opel Compass light signature and makes the Astra instantly recognisable, even from a distance.

New 17 and 18-inch wheels, together with fresh colours such as Kontur White and Klover Green, reinforce the modern dynamism. Optionally the roof can be finished in black for extra contrast.

Intelli-Lux HD: lighting technology that transcends its segment

The Astra is the first in the compact class to get the latest generation of Intelli-Lux HD matrix lights:

• More than 50,000 LED elements

• Faster and more extreme light masking for oncoming traffic

• A digital beam that turns with the bend

• Extra light modules that eliminate black holes in corners

• Less glare from traffic signs thanks to automatic reflection damping

The result: premium lighting in a segment where this was unthinkable for years.

Interior: comfort and sustainability hand in hand

Inside, the Astra becomes calmer, more luxurious and more ergonomic. It is also the first Opel ever in which all textile materials are made from 100% recycled fibres.

The big surprise? Even the base version of the Astra is equipped with Intelli-Seats with a central ergonomic recess, inspired by the pressure distribution of racing bicycle saddles, for long-lasting comfort.

Above that, AGR-certified, fully adjustable seats are available with:

• Massage function

• Electric lumbar support

• ReNewKnit™ upholstery with a suede look (fully recyclable)

• Memory settings

The infotainment and cockpit controls are more tightly organised, more intuitive and far more minimalist than before.

Drivetrains: further than ever on electricity

The Astra Electric gets a 58 kWh battery and now covers up to 454 km WLTP, an increase of 34 km. New too is V2L functionality: you can charge e-bikes, laptops and other devices from it, perfect for travel and outdoor use.

Petrol and hybrid engines also remain available (details to follow at the world premiere).

Practical strengths: compact outside, huge inside

The Astra hatchback offers up to 1,339 litres of boot space with the rear bench folded. Smart, functional and typically Opel.
