Volvo EX90

With the Volvo EX90, Volvo Cars takes a decisive step towards its fully electric future. This is no evolution of an existing model, but a fundamentally new beginning: a fully electric, seven-seat SUV that redefines safety, technology and sustainability the way only Volvo can.

The EX90 is designed as the brand's new flagship. A car that not only impresses today, but also becomes smarter, safer and better tomorrow thanks to its software-driven architecture. Volvo itself calls it "the start of a new era", and that is no marketing talk but a technical reality.

Scandinavian design, driven by function

The Volvo EX90 is an instant classic of Scandinavian design. Every line follows a clear purpose: efficiency, calm and space. The proportions are modern and confident, with a long wheelbase and a pure silhouette that radiates strength without becoming aggressive. This is a big SUV, but never showy.

Inside, that translates into an interior that combines calm and luxury with responsibility. Natural, carefully selected materials, minimalist styling and unprecedented spaciousness make the EX90 an ideal travel companion for families and long journeys alike. Everything feels logical, intuitive and well considered, typically Volvo, but clearly of a new generation.

Safety beyond human limits

Safety forms the absolute heart of the EX90. More than any Volvo before it, this car is designed to understand its surroundings and its driver. The EX90 introduces Volvo's most advanced "invisible safety shield" to date, powered by a combination of cameras, radars and a lidar sensor on the roof.

These sensors create a real-time 360° picture of the world around the car, day and night, even at high speeds. The lidar can detect small objects hundreds of metres away, which provides crucial extra reaction time. Combined with powerful core computers and Volvo's own software, this results in an unprecedented level of safety, today and in the future.

Inside too, the EX90 watches over its occupants. Cameras and sensors track the driver's attention, gaze direction and alertness. If fatigue or distraction is detected, the car first intervenes subtly and ultimately, if necessary, by stopping in a controlled manner and calling for help. The EX90 is also hardware-ready for autonomous driving as soon as legislation allows it.

A computer on wheels that keeps learning

The Volvo EX90 is the first model built entirely around Volvo's new software-defined architecture. Powered by NVIDIA DRIVE platforms, Snapdragon Cockpit technology and in-house software, the EX90 functions as a high-performance computer on wheels.

The infotainment system with Google built-in is one of the most advanced on the market. Google Maps, Assistant and apps via Google Play are seamlessly integrated, while wireless Apple CarPlay offers extra flexibility. Thanks to 5G connectivity and over-the-air updates, the car keeps improving itself, without a dealer visit.

At the centre sits the large 14.5-inch touchscreen, supported by a head-up display and a digital cockpit that shows only the right information, at the right moment. The sound experience is of reference level, with a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos and speakers integrated into the headrests.

Electric driving without compromise

Beneath the floor sits a powerful 111 kWh battery, coupled to two permanent-magnet electric motors with four-wheel drive. In its performance version the EX90 delivers 517 hp and 910 Nm of torque, good for effortless acceleration and exceptional stability, even with seven occupants on board.

The range is up to 600 km (WLTP), while fast charging from 10 to 80% takes around 30 minutes. More importantly: the EX90 is Volvo's first model technically prepared for bidirectional charging, which means the car will in future also be able to feed energy back to your home or other electrical devices.

Sustainability does not stop at the drivetrain. The EX90 contains unprecedentedly high percentages of recycled steel, aluminium and bio-based materials, the most sustainable use of materials ever in a Volvo.
