Leapmotor A10 breaks cover
Leapmotor unveiled the brand-new A10 in Guangzhou today (known internationally as B03X), the very first model on the new global A-platform, and immediately a serious challenge to what we today call “premium”.
Their mission? Smashing three stubborn car myths:
🚫 Premium = expensive
🚫 Compact = low-tech
🚫 Small size = little space
With the new A10, Leapmotor wants to prove it can be done differently. And honestly: this could well become the EV that shakes up the entire segment.
A compact SUV that's big on the inside, genuinely big
The Leapmotor A10 is a purpose-built EV, so not a converted combustion-engine car. You feel that immediately in the proportions:
Length: 4,200 mm
Width: 1,800 mm
Height: 1,600 mm
Wheelbase: +2,600 mm
That's shorter than a VW T-Roc, but with more interior space than many larger crossovers. Thanks to the “cab-forward EV design”, the cabin shifts extremely far forward, giving the A10 a sense of space inside that almost nothing else in this segment offers today.
AI cockpit, full OTA updates and door-to-door ADAS
Leapmotor equips the A10 with everything you'd normally only see in cars costing nearly twice as much:
Fully AI-driven cockpit
Door-to-door assistance system (from parking spot to motorway)
Full-vehicle OTA updates, including drivetrain, ADAS and infotainment
Smart UX that adapts to your driving style
The A10 is built on the latest LEAP architecture, the same foundation Stellantis wants to roll out globally since their partnership with Leapmotor. That means: global quality standards, a solid software base and production quality ready for export to Europe.
Up to 500 km of electric range, and that on LFP
Leapmotor is going with an ultra-high-energy-density LFP battery, good for 500 km CLTC range
Convert that to European figures and you're still looking at around 360–400 km WLTP, which is impressive for a compact SUV with a price likely to sit well below established brands.
LFP also means:
longer lifespan
more heat-resistant
cheaper to replace
ideal for intensive daily use
Design: minimalist, friendly and surprisingly premium
The A10 comes with:
6 body colours
18-inch sporty wheels
Semi-recessed door handles
A floating roof
A recognisable “smile light signature” that gives it instant character
That “smile” is set to become the design signature of the A-platform, you're going to see a lot more of this light motif in Europe.
Who's this for? Leapmotor is targeting two explosively growing groups
1. Smart buyers looking for a second car
Ideal for families seeking an affordable, spacious, efficient and smart EV for daily use.
2. First-time EV buyers who've outgrown ICE compacts
Without compromising on safety, technology or space.
In other words: this is the car Tesla Model Y buyers wished they'd had at a price they actually wanted to pay.
AutoNext verdict
The Leapmotor A10 is no gimmick. It's a strategic model designed for global scale, including Europe. The combination of price, space, technology and efficiency is… honestly: hard to beat.
If Leapmotor can bring this model to Europe below the €28,000 mark, then we have a potential market disruptor on our hands. And with Stellantis in the background? The odds of this car actually reaching our market have suddenly become very high.
