Pastrana bids farewell with an explosive stunt spectacle in Australia.

The Subaru Brataroo takes the lead role in his ultimate Gymkhana finale.

Travis Pastrana has done it again. And this time harder, higher and more absurd than ever before. His final Gymkhana film, Aussie Shred, is a finale only Pastrana could deliver: brutal, explosive, technically masterful and visually completely over the top.
Behind the wheel of the Subaru “Brataroo”, a 670 hp 1978 Brat that now looks more like a rocket than a car, Pastrana chases through the Australian wilderness, over water, through canyons and straight across Mount Panorama in Bathurst. This is Gymkhana on steroids. And a fitting farewell.

The Brataroo: a 1978 Subaru that now has more in common with a fighter jet than a pick-up

The star of the show is not just Pastrana, but also the Subaru Brataroo, a Frankenstein on four wheels that has zero respect for the laws of physics.
A classic ’78 Brat? On paper, yes.
In reality? A hopped-up turbo boxer with:

  • 670 hp

  • 680 Nm

  • Active aero

  • AWD

  • 9,500 rpm

Australia as a playground: from the outback to Bathurst

The film opens in the outback, where Pastrana immediately makes clear he is not going for a jog: he launches the Brataroo over a canyon as if auditioning for SpaceX. From there it heads towards Sydney Harbour, with shots so clean you start wondering since when Gymkhana was allowed to be cinematic.

But the real highlight? Mount Panorama, Bathurst. The kind of hallowed ground where even hardened racers whisper with respect, and where Pastrana cheerfully lays down donuts as if pulling out of his own driveway.

A film in which Pastrana's eyes tell their own story

What makes Aussie Shred unique is how transparent the adrenaline is.
His eyes give everything away:

  • fear when the car slides just slightly differently than planned

  • pure elation when a stunt lands perfectly

  • pure chaos in every donut

  • relief in every lucky landing

It makes the film rawer than previous Gymkhanas: this is not an actor in a stunt film. This is someone genuinely riding the edge.

Cameos, culture and a ton of Australian love

The film is packed with nods to Australian car history:

  • Mighty Car Mods (Marty & Moog) show up

  • the Last of the V8 Interceptors gets a cameo

  • road trains are not avoided, they are used

Hoonigan knew exactly what fans wanted to see, and delivered it in overdrive.

Why this Gymkhana took so long to happen

Hoonigan had been trying to film in Australia for ten years.
Ten years of: nope, anti-hoon laws.
Now: open arms.

And you can feel it: the production is bursting with freedom, scale and inspiration. Co-founder Brian Scotto calls the Brataroo “the craziest Gymkhana car ever built.” And honestly? You do not need to be an engineer to understand why.

The end of an era, and the start of a new mystery

Aussie Shred is Pastrana's very last Gymkhana film. What follows? Nobody knows.
But one thing is certain: whoever wants to beat this level has a problem. A big problem.

Gymkhana carries on. But Pastrana's chapter ends with an explosion that will echo for years to come.
