CUPRA Raval

CUPRA’s first fully electric city weapon shows its raw character

04/12/2025

The future of European electric driving is getting smaller, fiercer and bolder, and CUPRA kicks off that new chapter with the Raval, the first model in the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car family. In Martorell, a camouflaged pre-series prototype drove its first public kilometres, and it was immediately clear: this is no tame city EV. This is CUPRA.

Compact in size, huge in attitude

Just four metres long, but every centimetre says performance. The CUPRA Raval is built on the new MEB+ platform, with front-wheel drive and a chassis setup shaped entirely around the driver.

During the exclusive test drives, the Raval showed that a compact EV is far from predictable:

  • razor-sharp turn-in

  • an extremely agile rear axle

  • a playful balance you rarely see in this segment

CUPRA calls it “driver-first emotion”, we call it: the first electric city car with real character.

More than a city car: a mini-GTI for the electric generation

Despite its compact footprint, the Raval is designed to do more than park in the city centre. Thanks to:

  • a surprisingly roomy interior,

  • a practical boot,

  • and handling that invites you to head out of the city,

CUPRA positions the Raval as the EV that has to win over a new generation that electric driving is allowed to be fun too.

The start of something much bigger

The Raval is the first model to get the Electric Urban Car family going. That family will consist of four compact EVs from the Volkswagen Group, including the future Volkswagen ID.Polo, also built in Martorell.

The goal? To democratise and emotionalise electric driving. In other words: to make EVs desirable again. Markus Haupt, CEO of CUPRA, puts it himself:

“The Raval embodies everything CUPRA stands for: emotion, design, performance. It is the car that will shape the next phase of electric mobility.”

2026: the year CUPRA makes electric truly personal

Next year the CUPRA Raval makes its official world premiere, followed by its market launch. What we already know: CUPRA is not aiming at the mainstream, but at the new generation of drivers, licence holders who crave individuality, attitude and excitement, without the entry price of a premium EV.

The Raval will not be an electric car you choose with your head. It will be an electric car you choose with your heart.
