BYD TANG
The new BYD TANG is BYD's large electric SUV for Europe: 7 seats, AWD, a 108.8 kWh Blade Battery and a WLTP range of up to 530 km. This is the kind of car that makes electric driving normal, even when you travel with a lot of people (and a lot of luggage). What you feel from the first metres: the TANG is big and comfortable, yet at the same time surprisingly well finished and technologically mature. Not an experiment, but a serious European family SUV.
Dragon Face design, but refined
BYD redraws the TANG with the latest generation of its Dragon Face: tighter, more modern and clearly premium. At the front, the new full-LED headlights and the blade panel with BYD signature stand out. Along the side, the combination of a long wheelbase, short overhangs and clean surfacing creates that typical big-SUV-that-still-looks-elegant effect. At the rear, a full-width 3D light signature makes the car instantly recognisable in the dark.
A real 7-seater, with space that makes sense
With its size (4,970 mm long, 1,955 mm wide, 1,745 mm high) the TANG is made to carry people in genuine comfort. You get three rows of seats, with the third row folding individually into the floor. The second row folds and is practical, and getting into the back is easy thanks to a clever easy-entry solution.
The boot is clearly family-first too: 235 litres in 7-seat mode, 940 litres as a five-seater (floor to roof), and up to 1,655 litres with rows 2 and 3 flat. A handy detail: storage compartments everywhere, USB-C ports and a wireless charger up to 50 W.
Interior: premium lounge, not overdone
Inside, BYD focuses on comfort and calm. The front seats are wide and luxurious in Nappa leather, and come as standard with massage, heating and ventilation. You get an opening panoramic roof with sunshade, 31-colour ambient lighting and a cabin that stays remarkably quiet thanks to acoustic glass and extra insulation, among other things.
BYD also takes air quality seriously with a PM2.5 filter, air purification, a negative ion generator and an active fragrance system. That sounds fancy, but in practice it simply means a fresh, pleasant cabin on long journeys.
Digital cockpit: big, fast and logical
The TANG runs BYD's Intelligent Cockpit System with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen that rotates electrically. Thanks to the Qualcomm SA8155 everything feels fast and modern.
You get built-in 4G connectivity, apps such as Spotify and HERE Navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice control via Hi BYD. Via the BYD app you can remotely operate the doors, windows and climate control, among other things, and even start and unlock with the NFC key.
Music? Not merely good enough, but genuinely premium: Dynaudio surround with 12 speakers.
Performance: AWD with 517 hp
Underneath, the TANG combines two electric motors for AWD, good for 517 hp and 700 Nm. That takes it to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and on to 190 km/h. It remains remarkably refined and quiet while doing so (typically EV), but with the kind of punch you would sooner expect from performance SUVs.
Also practical: the TANG can tow 1,500 kg.
Blade Battery: 108.8 kWh and built on safety
The TANG uses BYD's Blade Battery (LFP) with 108.8 kWh (gross), liquid cooling and a crash-resistant honeycomb structure. LFP here means above all: safe, thermally stable and durable. The standard heat pump helps protect efficiency and range in colder weather. The official range is 530 km WLTP combined (and 682 km WLTP city).
Charging and V2L
AC charging is possible at 11 kW (three-phase). Fast charging goes up to 170 kW DC, with 30 to 80% in 30 minutes achievable (under the right conditions). And with V2L up to 4 kW the TANG literally becomes a mobile power source for external devices.
Safety: 5-star Euro NCAP plus Level 2 assistance
The new TANG has a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and comes as standard with a comprehensive Level 2 driver assistance set-up based on a sensor suite with radar and cameras, plus a 360-degree bird's-eye camera for manoeuvring in town. The goal is clear: maximum peace of mind for families, on busy roads and long trips alike.
