Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron

Audi takes the Q6 e-tron and gives it just that extra touch of I-am-really-a-coupe without wrecking the SUV practicality. The result: the Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron. Lower, tighter, visually faster and, above all, more efficient. In the right specification this is the range champion of the Q6 family, with up to 657 km of range (WLTP, depending on version) thanks to a more aerodynamic tail and a Cd of 0.26.

This is Audi's Sportback recipe in its most modern form: PPE platform, 800-volt architecture, high-end digital lighting, and an interior that feels like a lounge with a supercomputer in the cockpit.

Design: SUV body, coupe line, Sportback attitude

From the side it is immediately obvious: the roofline draws a perfect arc and runs more tightly towards the rear. Audi has redrawn the entire roof arch from the A-pillar and makes it 37 mm lower than the Q6 SUV version. The greenhouse sits lower over the muscular flanks, the rear window ends in a breakaway edge with an integrated third brake light, and that typical Sportback upward bend in the rear window gives it extra forward tension.

At the rear it stays very Audi: clean, wide, architectural. A continuous light strip marks out the width, with those tautly muscled shoulders above. The whole is less boxy SUV and more gran turismo on stilts.

Aerodynamics and efficiency: this is where the Sportback earns its kilometres

This is the core of the Sportback: the shape genuinely works. With a Cd of 0.26 (versus 0.28 for the SUV) the Q6 Sportback e-tron gets more range from the same tech. In Q6 Sportback e-tron performance trim that climbs to 657 km WLTP. And you feel it in how this car cruises: quieter, more stable, less energy lost at higher speeds.

Interior: the digital stage, Sportback-chic edition

Inside it is typically new Audi: a cockpit that welcomes you visually calmly but can technically do everything.

  • The Audi MMI panoramic display forms the heart of the cockpit, with the optional MMI passenger display.

  • The Softwrap runs from the doors through the dashboard into the centre console and immediately creates that cocoon feeling, as if the interior were built around you.

  • Fully connected: you can tell this is not infotainment but a platform.

Practicality remains surprisingly strong for a coupe-SUV:

  • Boot: 511 litres

  • Frunk: 64 litres

  • With the rear bench flat: up to 1,373 litres
And that long wheelbase (2,899 mm) means real space in the back, not just fine on paper.

Drivetrain and batteries: 83 kWh or 100 kWh, RWD or quattro

Audi keeps the line-up clear: two battery sizes and two drive concepts.

Batteries

  • 83 kWh (gross), net 75.8 kWh

  • 100 kWh (gross), net 94.9 kWh

Drive

  • Rear-wheel drive (RWD) for maximum efficiency and that light Audi balance

  • quattro for traction, stability and that typical Audi sure-footedness

Power and performance (family overview)

  • Q6 Sportback e-tron (83 kWh, RWD): 252 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 7.0 s (Launch Control)

  • Q6 Sportback e-tron performance (100 kWh, RWD): 306 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 s

  • Q6 Sportback e-tron quattro: 387 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 s

  • SQ6 Sportback e-tron: 489 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 s

Top speed:

  • Most versions: 210 km/h

  • SQ6: 230 km/h

Charging: 800 volts, seriously fast, and above all usable in real life

This is where PPE really comes into its own. The Q6 Sportback e-tron uses an 800-volt system with smart battery thermal management, which results in charging figures you simply feel every day.

  • In the Q6 Sportback e-tron performance: 265 km added in 10 minutes at a fast charger (ideal conditions), at up to 270 kW.

  • 10 to 80% in 21 minutes (again, ideal conditions).

Also important: Audi tunes charging per version (S models can peak high too, other versions slightly lower), but the feeling remains the same: this is EV driving without charging frustration.

Handling: Sportback means a lower stance and a sharper vibe

Audi reworked a great deal of the chassis and software for the Q6 e-tron range, but in Sportback trim the character really comes to the surface.

  • Redesigned front axle plus optimised kinematics: more precision, more feedback

  • Rear-biased quattro tuning on AWD versions: feels less like being pulled along and more dynamic

  • FSD (Frequency Selective Damping): a smart passive damping concept that adapts to the frequencies in the movement of body and road

  • Adaptive air suspension (optional, depending on version) with level control: stays nicely flat, even with a load or at higher speeds

Bottom line: this is no soft EV SUV. This is a Sportback you genuinely enjoy steering.

Lighting: signature tech, but safety tech too

Audi turns lighting into an identity, and here that is very literal.

  • Active digital light signature at the front (segments that dim and brighten)

  • Second-generation digital OLED tail lights: 6 OLED panels, 360 segments, a new image every 10 milliseconds, which makes the light look alive

  • Up to 8 light signatures (depending on equipment) plus a communication light at the rear for warnings in critical situations

This is one of those features you first find cool, until you notice how much it raises both your visibility and your safety.

Connected and apps: your car is literally a device

The Q6 Sportback e-tron is fully connected and bets heavily on voice.

  • Audi assistant (self-learning)

  • Extended with ChatGPT via Azure OpenAI Service (for general knowledge questions)

  • Apps such as YouTube and DAZN via the Audi store for third-party apps

Practical talent: it stays an SUV when you need it to

Sportback or not, this remains a Q6.

  • Towing capacity up to 2,400 kg on the Q6 Sportback e-tron quattro and SQ6

  • Rear space thanks to the wheelbase

  • Smart storage (Audi even talks about extra useful storage in the cabin)
