Hyundai kills the i30 and has no plan to replace it

Hyundai has confirmed it will not build a successor to the i30, its C-segment family hatchback. Europe CEO Xavier Martinet cited falling segment demand and the model's heavy reliance on low-margin fleet sales as the core reasons. The i30 joins the Ford Focus, Kia Ceed and Renault Megane in abandoning the class, leaving the Volkswagen Golf, Peugeot 308 and Toyota Corolla as the last significant players.

Ferrari's marketing boss is leaving after a bruising electric-car backlash

Ferrari's long-serving chief marketing and commercial officer Enrico Galliera is stepping down after more than 16 years, replaced from 1 July by Massimiliano Di Silvestre, former head of BMW's Italian operations. The change follows a rocky debut for the Luce, Ferrari's first fully electric car, designed by Jony Ive's LoveFrom, which drew heavy criticism and saw the share price fall over 8 percent. Ferrari says the departure is unconnected to the backlash.

Good news, purists: Porsche says the 911 will never go fully electric

Porsche CEO Michael Leiters has confirmed there will be no fully electric 911, stating plainly: "there will be no fully electric 911." The icon will continue with combustion and hybrid power, with Leiters calling the performance hybrid "a sort of elixir of life for the future." The decision is part of a wider plan to simplify Porsche's overcomplicated line-up and refocus on its sports car DNA, with the Cayenne Electric leading its electric charge instead.
