BMW Z4 Final Edition

The end of an era. BMW will end production of the G29 Z4 for good next year, and to say goodbye the roadster gets one last, very limited version: the BMW Z4 Final Edition. A swansong for one of the last real, classic roadsters in the premium segment.

One configuration. Two transmissions. Pure choice.

BMW positions the Z4 Final Edition as a curated spec: one fully fixed configuration, except for one crucial choice for the purists, eight-speed Steptronic or a six-speed manual.

The latter comes with the Edition Handschalter Package, including:

• revised software for the rear dampers

• finer steering tuning

• revised traction control mapping

• a tuned M Sport rear differential

The result is the purest, most analogue Z4 of this generation.

The beloved straight-six remains as brilliant as ever

Under the long bonnet still lies BMW’s iconic 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six, good for the same performance as the regular M40i. The Final Edition keeps all the power and smoothness that make the Z4 so loved, but wraps it in a more exclusive package.

The roadster sits on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels in the Dual-Spoke Bicolor 800M design, classic BMW M wheels that suit the wider, muscular profile perfectly.

This is the darkest, most dramatic Z4 ever. Every Z4 Final Edition is finished in BMW Individual Frozen Black metallic. The matte finish emphasises the sculpture of the bodywork and makes the Final Edition instantly recognisable, even to non-experts.

On top of that, the car comes as standard with:

• Shadow Line trim (mirrors, grille, air intakes, exhausts)

• Moonlight Black fabric roof

• Red brake calipers as a subtle contrast

The look is powerful, elegant and minimalist, exactly as a Final Edition should be.

An interior that continues the story

Inside, the sombre exterior flows into a mix of black Vernasca leather, Alcantara and red contrast stitching across:

• the dashboard

• the centre console

• the door panels

• the floor mats

• the M Sport seats

And to make sure you never forget it, you get exclusive Final Edition door sills.

It is otherwise richly equipped, fitted as standard with:

• Driver Assistance Package

• Premium Package (including ambient lighting and Head-Up Display)

• Harman Kardon audio

BMW leaves no room for options: this is a fully defined send-off.

A farewell in limited numbers

BMW will build the Z4 Final Edition for only a few months (from February to April 2026) and in very small numbers. How small? That is deliberately kept vague, but insiders expect barely a few dozen.

What comes next, nobody knows. The Toyota Supra, its technical twin, already ends in March and gets a successor. BMW is saying nothing for now about a fourth-generation Z4.

There is a good chance this becomes the very last BMW roadster with classic proportions: long bonnet, rear-wheel drive, straight-six and an optional manual. The spirit of the times is changing, but some cars deserve a final bow.
