Toyota GR Yaris MORIZO RR

Nürburgring DNA, a Morizo signature and only 100 examples for Europe

10/01/2026

Toyota GAZOO Racing lifts the GR Yaris to a new, almost mythical level with the GR Yaris MORIZO RR. This is not a cosmetic special edition, but a car that was literally born at the Nürburgring, developed with and for Akio Toyoda, better known as Morizo. The run? Just 100 units for Europe, plus 100 for Japan. Launch: spring 2026.

From the Nürburgring 24h to a road-legal special

The MORIZO RR is the tangible result of Toyota’s entry in the Nürburgring 24 Hours 2025 with TOYOTA GAZOO ROOKIE Racing (TGRR). Akio Toyoda himself drove a GR Yaris fitted with the GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT) and completed more laps than planned, a clear sign that this setup is not only fast, but also durable and confidence-inspiring.

That experience forms the core of the MORIZO RR: maximum interaction between car and driver, with settings taken straight from competition use.

Exclusive engineering: suspension, steering and a new 4WD mode

The MORIZO RR received a unique Nürburgring setup for the suspension, developed in combination with the extra downforce of a carbon-fibre rear wing. The goal: constant tyre load, even on bumpy, high-speed sections like the Nordschleife.

Important detail for purists:

  • Exclusively tuned dampers

  • Revised EPS steering for more feel around the centre

  • New 4WD mode: “MORIZO”, which replaces the standard Gravel mode
→ a fixed 50:50 torque split for maximum predictability and traction

This is not a show mode, but a driving mode devised by someone who really knows the circuit.

Carbon, khaki and Morizo yellow: a look with meaning

Visually, the MORIZO RR immediately sets itself apart from every other GR Yaris:

  • Exclusive body colour: Gravel Khaki (Morizo’s personal favourite)

  • Carbon-fibre rear wing (developed during the Nürburgring 24h)

  • Carbon-fibre bonnet

  • Front splitter and side skirts

  • Matte Bronze alloy wheels

  • Piano Black grille for a lower, more aggressive front

  • Yellow brake calipers in Morizo’s signature colour

  • MORIZO RR badge on the tailgate

  • Windscreen with Morizo’s signature

Subtle enough for the road, but unmistakably special for those who know what they are looking at.

Interior: race focus without theatre

Inside, it is all about control and feedback:

  • Suede sports steering wheel with a smaller diameter

  • Revised paddles and steering controls, inspired by the GR Yaris Rally2

  • Yellow stitching on the wheel, gear lever, handbrake and seats

  • Exclusive seats with revised perforation and embroidery

  • A unique serial-number plate with the “MORIZO RR” logo

  • GR full TFT display with a specific MORIZO readout

Everything breathes functional motorsport, no unnecessary luxury, no gimmicks.

Automatic, but hardcore

Notably (and tellingly): the MORIZO RR is supplied exclusively with the eight-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. Not a compromise, but a deliberate choice. Toyoda himself praised the automatic after the Nürburgring race because it is faster, more consistent and less tiring during intensive driving.

This is Toyota’s statement: performance comes before nostalgia.

Positioning: a future classic in the making

With just 200 examples worldwide, a direct link to Morizo himself and Nürburgring development as its foundation, the GR Yaris MORIZO RR is already a candidate for future-classic status. This is the kind of GR model that will be talked about later, not because it is rare, but because it genuinely says something about Toyota’s sporting soul.
