You can now build your own Bovensiepen 05 GT, and it's arriving in Belgium
The spiritual Alpina is now yours to personalise
The Bovensiepen 05 GT, the 790 hp plug-in hybrid super-estate built by the family that created Alpina, has taken its next step towards customers: you can now configure one online. And there is good news close to home, because the fledgling brand's dealer network already stretches into Belgium and the Netherlands.
Build it exactly your way
This is where the 05 GT really shows its coachbuilt roots. The new online configurator lets you personalise the car down to the very last detail: exterior paint, design line, wheels, brake calipers, leather and even the stitching colour. Bovensiepen leans hard into the idea of a personal automotive work of art, and its upholsterers will reportedly take on almost any request, from bespoke embroidery to embossing. It is exactly the kind of hands-on, made-to-measure ethos that made the original Alpina so beloved.
The price climbs quickly
None of this comes cheap. Pricing starts at 167,143 euro, but the options list is deep and tempting, so it is easy to spend a great deal more. A representative configuration on the site already totals 202,893 euro, with around 35,750 euro of equipment added. Individual highlights include a full Lavalina leather interior at 18,908 euro, Alcantara luggage compartment and floor linings, carbon-ceramic brakes, a Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system and a titanium exhaust made by Akrapovic. Ticking the boxes your heart desires will comfortably push this well past 200,000 euro.
A dealer network taking shape, including Belgium
Just as important as building the car is being able to buy and service it properly, and Bovensiepen is busy setting up its retail network. There are now four authorised partners in Germany, and crucially the brand is also represented in the Netherlands, Belgium and the Czech Republic. For enthusiasts here, that means expert advice and personalised support without having to look to Germany, a welcome sign that Bovensiepen is serious about our market.
A quick reminder of what it is
In case you missed the reveal, the 05 GT is essentially the Alpina B5 Touring that never got to be, built by Burkard Bovensiepen's sons in the same Buchloe factory, but under the family surname since BMW acquired the Alpina name. It is based on the BMW M5 Touring, using a plug-in hybrid twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 with around 790 hp, good for 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.6 seconds. Production is capped at just 200 cars a year, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter of 2026.
AutoNext Take
We are big fans of what Bovensiepen is doing, and letting people configure their own 05 GT is a lovely milestone. This is exactly the discreet, bespoke, quietly devastating super-estate that Alpina fans feared they had lost, and being able to obsess over paint and stitching combinations online is half the fun of owning one. That it costs supercar money is no surprise, given the craftsmanship and exclusivity involved.
Best of all, from our corner of Europe, is seeing Belgium and the Netherlands on the dealer list so early. It means this 790 hp sleeper is not just a German curiosity but a car you can genuinely buy and look after close to home. With only 200 made a year, it will stay wonderfully rare. If we had the budget, we know exactly how we would spec ours.
