When hypercar engineering meets elite cycling.

At first glance, the worlds of hypercars and elite cycling may seem far apart. Yet both are driven by the same obsession: precision engineering, marginal gains and absolute performance. That shared philosophy lies at the heart of the new Bugatti Factor ONE, a radical collaboration between Bugatti and Factor Bikes. Only 250 individually numbered units will be produced worldwide.

A shared philosophy of performance

The partnership between Bugatti and Factor Bikes feels surprisingly natural. While Bugatti’s legacy includes icons such as the Bugatti Type 35 and modern hypercars like the Bugatti Veyron and Bugatti Chiron, Factor has built its reputation by developing some of the fastest UCI-legal racing bicycles in the world.

Both brands operate with a similar mindset: if a component does not deliver measurable performance gains, it simply does not belong in the design. For the Bugatti Factor ONE, that philosophy allowed engineers to rethink nearly every aspect of the bicycle.

Aerodynamics beyond the rulebook

Unlike traditional road bikes constrained by cycling regulations, the Factor ONE was developed without the strict design limits imposed by the Union Cycliste Internationale. This freedom enabled engineers to pursue a completely new aerodynamic configuration.

The most striking example is the wider fork stance, designed to optimise airflow around the front of the bike and reduce aerodynamic drag. Combined with refined carbon shaping and integrated component design, the result is a bicycle engineered for extreme efficiency at high speeds. It is, in many ways, the cycling equivalent of a hypercar.

Carbon engineering at the highest level

Advanced carbon construction forms the backbone of the Factor ONE. Every part of the frame has been designed to balance aerodynamic efficiency, stiffness and ride quality. The distinctive two-tone graphic split (a visual signature often seen on Bugatti hypercars) emphasises the sculpted surfaces of the frame.

The bike also proudly carries Bugatti Blue, the historic colour associated with French racing machines since the 1920s. At the front of the frame sits another iconic Bugatti symbol: the Dancing Elephant, originally created by sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti. Reinterpreted for this project, the emblem serves as a subtle tribute to Bugatti’s artistic heritage.

Hypercar-level components

The engineering story extends far beyond the frame itself. Several components have been developed specifically for this project in collaboration with leading performance suppliers:

  • bespoke Selle Italia saddle

  • customised CARBON-TI rotors and chainrings

  • specialised Continental tyres

One of the highlights is the Black Inc Bugatti Hyper 62 wheelset, arguably the cycling equivalent of a hypercar wheel package. Weighing just 1,298 grams for the pair, the carbon wheels feature a 62-mm aerodynamic rim profile designed to maximise speed while maintaining stability in crosswinds. Advanced carbon layups and co-moulded spoke technology ensure exceptional power transfer and responsiveness.

Exclusivity in true Bugatti fashion

As expected from Bugatti, exclusivity is central to the project. Production of the Bugatti Factor ONE will be limited to 250 individually numbered bicycles, making it as much a collector’s item as a performance machine.

The bike is aimed at a very specific audience: collectors, elite cyclists and enthusiasts who demand the rarest expression of engineering performance, whether on four wheels or two.

AutoNext Take

At AutoNext we often discuss how automotive brands are expanding beyond cars into new categories: luxury fashion, architecture, watches or lifestyle products. But the Bugatti Factor ONE stands apart from many of those collaborations.

This is not a simple branding exercise. Instead, Bugatti has translated its core philosophy (engineering purity, extreme performance and obsessive attention to detail) into an entirely different discipline.

Porsche Sonderwunsch reinterprets a racing legend with a unique 911 S/T

Automotive history often lives in museums and archives. Occasionally, however, it becomes the starting point for something entirely new. That is exactly what happened with this extraordinary one-off created through the Porsche Sonderwunsch programme. Inspired by a historic Porsche 911 S/T from 1972 that once competed in the legendary Camel GT Challenge, Porsche has crafted a modern reinterpretation that bridges half a century of motorsport heritage.
