LEGO is turning the Jaguar E-Type into a 1,673-piece British Racing Green icon
Some cars are too beautiful not to build in brick
Enzo Ferrari is said to have called the Jaguar E-Type the most beautiful car ever made, and now you can put one on your shelf without needing a classic-car budget. LEGO has revealed its new Icons Jaguar E-Type roadster, a 1,673-piece love letter to one of Britain's greatest shapes, finished in the only colour that really suits it: British Racing Green.
What's in the box
Set 11381 is made up of 1,673 pieces and joins LEGO's growing Icons line of classic cars. It captures the E-Type's defining features nicely: that impossibly long bonnet, the flowing curves and the low, elegant roadster stance. LEGO has given it opening doors, a bonnet and a boot that all open, plus a retractable fabric-style convertible roof so you can display it open or closed. There are classic wire-wheel details and even a little tool kit tucked into the boot, a lovely period-correct touch.
Printed, not stickered
One detail collectors will appreciate is that LEGO has leaned on printed elements rather than stickers for most of the detailing, which tends to look far better and age much more gracefully on a display piece. The deep British Racing Green bodywork and low, vintage profile should make it a real centrepiece next to the other Icons cars, especially under a bit of subtle lighting.
Price and release
The E-Type set carries a price of 139.99 euro and is set to go on sale on 1 August 2026. Early community reaction has been mostly positive, though a few enthusiasts have quibbled that the model looks slightly too long or too flat, with some debate about the accuracy of the front lights and that famous oval mouth. Then again, capturing the E-Type's proportions is a challenge even for full-size car designers.
AutoNext Take
We adore this. The E-Type is arguably the most beautiful car Britain ever produced, and while we would all love a real one, a genuine example now costs more than a house. A 1,673-piece LEGO version in British Racing Green for 139.99 euro is a wonderful way to own the shape, and it sits neatly alongside the way modern designers keep reinterpreting Jaguar's greats, as Ian Callum did so gorgeously with the XJ220. It is the sort of car-culture crossover that makes us smile.
Whether it ends up on a collector's shelf or on a kitchen table on a rainy Sunday afternoon, it is a lovely reminder that great design transcends scale and material. If you have ever mourned never being able to afford a real E-Type, this is a rather charming consolation prize. We know where our next 140 euro is going.
