The legendary Mercedes-AMG G 63 receives yet another exclusive variant.

With the introduction of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition Performance, Mercedes-AMG presents a special model focused on performance, striking design and collector-level exclusivity. There is one important detail: this limited edition is exclusively reserved for the Japanese market.

Production is limited to just 150 units worldwide, all allocated to customers in Japan. The special edition combines the unmistakable G-Class silhouette with extensive carbon accents, bold MANUFAKTUR colours and additional performance upgrades.

Extra performance for the AMG icon

Under the hood remains the familiar AMG powerhouse: the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, hand-built in Affalterbach according to AMG’s famous “One Man, One Engine” philosophy. Output figures remain unchanged but still impressive:

  • 585 hp (430 kW)

  • 850 Nm of torque

  • 0–100 km/h in 4.3 seconds

This Edition Performance also features 48-volt mild-hybrid support via an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The system briefly adds 20 hp of additional boost, improving responsiveness and efficiency.

For the first time on the G 63, the AMG Performance Package is included as standard. This increases the electronically limited top speed from 220 km/h to 240 km/h and adds RACE START launch control for maximum acceleration.

Carbon styling and bold MANUFAKTUR colours

Visually, the Edition Performance clearly distinguishes itself from the standard G 63. The SUV receives numerous carbon fiber components, including:

  • carbon bumper trim

  • carbon underbody protection

  • carbon mirror caps

  • carbon spare wheel cover

  • carbon side strips

These are combined with the AMG Night Package II, giving the grille, badges and Mercedes star a darker appearance.

Three exclusive MANUFAKTUR colours are available:

  • MANUFAKTUR Sun Yellow

  • MANUFAKTUR Green Hell Magno

  • MANUFAKTUR Copper Orange Magno

Together with the 22-inch forged AMG wheels finished in matte gold, the result is a bold combination of luxury, motorsport aesthetics and unmistakable presence.

Performance-inspired luxury interior

Inside, the Edition Performance continues the theme of exclusivity. The cabin combines Platinum White leather with AMG carbon fiber trim, creating a distinctive contrast between luxury and sportiness.

A carbon AMG Performance steering wheel with MICROCUT microfibre further emphasizes the model’s performance character. Infotainment is powered by MBUX, allowing drivers to control navigation, multimedia and vehicle settings through voice commands such as “Hi Mercedes”.

Still a true G-Class

Despite the performance-focused upgrades, the Edition Performance remains true to the traditional G-Class philosophy. It retains the ladder-frame chassis, three differential locks, low-range gearbox and rigid rear axle, ensuring that the SUV remains one of the few luxury vehicles capable of serious off-road performance.

AutoNext Take

Limited editions specifically built for Japan are nothing new in the automotive world. The country has long been one of the most important markets for luxury and performance vehicles. But the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition Performance shows how brands increasingly create region-specific collector models for their most loyal markets.

A hand-built V8-powered G-Class limited to 150 units almost feels like a tribute to the final era of traditional AMG combustion performance. And that alone makes this Japan-exclusive edition particularly interesting for collectors.
