Alpine A110: where it all begins and often ends
Not because it’s the simplest A110, but because it’s the one that stays closest to Alpine’s original DNA: light, agile, instinctive, and built around the idea that true performance doesn’t come from power alone, but from balance.
Where other sports cars impress with brute numbers, the A110 does so through finesse. With its low weight, mid-engine layout and exceptional suspension, it represents the modern interpretation of the original A110 Berlinette: a car that doesn’t overwhelm you, but invites you in. A car that lets you drive, feel and connect.
Lightweight as a philosophy
At just 1,102 kg, the A110 weighs less than most cars in this segment, a figure that almost feels unreal today. That low mass defines everything: precision, agility, responsiveness, and the constant communication between road and driver.
The weight distribution (44% front, 56% rear) gives the A110 its typical Alpine character, playful when you want it to be, yet always composed, controlled and confidence-inspiring.
Its double wishbone suspension, front and rear, is a masterpiece in itself, delivering a level of balance that even much more expensive sports cars struggle to match.
252 hp: exactly enough to be brilliant
The 1.8-litre turbocharged engine produces 252 hp and 340 Nm, paired with a lightning-fast 7-speed dual-clutch transmission operated via aluminium paddles on the steering column.
It’s enough power to make the A110 feel alive, but never so much that it overwhelms the chassis. This is pure driving pleasure without filters, an almost analogue experience in a modern package.
Three driving modes allow you to shape the car’s personality:
Normal: comfort, smoothness and a relaxed character
Sport: sharper throttle response, faster shifts, open exhaust valves and rev-matching on downshifts
Track: maximum sharpness, minimal filtering, ESC fully disengageable
The result is a car that’s just as happy dancing through corners as it is cruising calmly through the city.
A cockpit that immediately switches you on
The interior philosophy of the A110 is minimalist and functional, but never cold. The one-piece Sabelt Sport bucket seats set the tone immediately: ultra-light, perfectly supportive, trimmed in a mix of microfibre and leather with subtle grey stitching.
Technology is present, but never dominant. The driver benefits from a modern Alpine infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, offering Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB connectivity and real-time navigation. Voice control allows easy interaction with smartphone functions, while over-the-air updates ensure the system remains up to date.
For those who want more, the optional Alpine Telemetrics system brings track-level data into the cabin, including turbo pressure, steering angles, G-forces, temperature curves and a lap timer.
Design: compact, muscular and timeless
The A110 has proportions that have become rare: compact, low and perfectly balanced. Its aluminium architecture allows the aerodynamic lines to remain clean and purposeful.
Standard features include:
17-inch 10-spoke wheels
LED headlights and dynamic rear lights
A central chrome exhaust
Charcoal Black Brembo brake calipers
A refined diffuser and subtle airflow management
The overall design feels both retro and modern, a true tribute to over 60 years of Alpine heritage.
More practical than you’d expect
The A110 is neither a hardcore track weapon like the R 70, nor a grand tourer like the GTS. It’s a sports car designed for everyday use, and surprisingly usable thanks to:
100 litres of rear luggage space
A 96-litre front trunk
Easy ingress and seating position
Automatic climate control
Cruise control
Its compact dimensions make it just as comfortable on mountain roads as it is in city traffic.
Why the A110 still defines Alpine
This entry-level version may well be the purest A110 of them all, the one that strikes the most natural balance between driving dynamics, accessibility and character.
No extremes, no compromises, just a light, sharp and playful sports car that you’ll want to drive every single day.
