Alpine’s range has never really stood still in recent years. The A110 has continued to evolve, refine, sharpen and subtly reposition itself with each iteration.

With the arrival of the A110 GTS, Alpine takes another interesting step: the former A110 S and A110 GT are combined into a single model that promises the best of both worlds. At first, that feels slightly odd (two distinct characters suddenly becoming one), but the longer you drive it, the more logical that decision actually becomes.

What makes the GTS stand out

The A110 GTS comes standard with the lowered S chassis, which immediately means it feels sharper and more focused than the base car, without crossing into the uncompromising territory of the hardcore R variants. Add to that the forged 18‑inch FUCHS wheels, the comfortable yet supportive Sabelt GTS seats in heated grey leather with subtle stitching, and the Focal Premium audio system that fits the car’s light, minimalist character perfectly.

Our test car was finished in Gris Acier Mat, paired with the optional 18‑inch GT Race wheels in matte dark grey with diamond‑cut detailing. And yes, let’s be honest, it simply looks sensational. The A110 has never been a car that shouts, but in this configuration it radiates pure class and restraint. This is not a car that asks for attention. It earns it.

The chassis: still the benchmark

What Alpine has consistently done right since 2017 is sticking to one simple philosophy: lightweight above all else. The A110 GTS tips the scales at just 1.108 kg dry. In today’s context, that is almost absurd. For reference, a new BMW M5 Touring weighs more than twice as much. Those numbers alone explain why this car feels so alive, so pure and so communicative.

The 44% front and 56% rear weight distribution delivers near‑perfect balance. Everything happening beneath you is clearly transmitted. Every texture in the asphalt, every shift in grip, every nuance in load. Even on Michelin Alpin 5 winter tyres, confidence levels remain remarkably high. The car tells you exactly what it is doing, without drama, without filtering.

This is driving in its purest form.

The engine: earn your reward

Under the rear decklid sits the familiar 1.8‑litre turbocharged four‑cylinder, producing 300 hp. It is not an engine that overwhelms you at low revs. Quite the opposite. It asks for commitment. You need to work it, let it breathe, push it beyond 4.000 rpm to unlock its full character.

But when you do, something special happens. The A110 GTS becomes sharp, fast and intensely engaging. Focus is required, no question, yet everything remains predictable. The chassis absorbs it all, balance stays neutral, and you always know where the limit lies. That is what makes this car so exceptional. You can use almost 100% of its potential almost all the time, something that has become increasingly rare in modern sports cars.

A sports car you can drive every day

What is often overlooked with the A110 is just how usable it actually is. During our seven‑day test period, we had no trouble using the GTS as a daily driver. The combination of a rear boot of around 96 litres and a front trunk of roughly 100 litres adds up to almost 200 litres of storage. More than enough for groceries or a weekend away, although the rear opening is fairly narrow, so soft bags work best.

The suspension is compliant enough, the seats are excellent, and the car never feels tiring. Quite the opposite. Every drive, no matter how short, becomes something to look forward to.

Interior and ergonomics: simplicity that works

Inside, Alpine remains true to its minimalist approach. Everything is where you expect it to be, and everything works intuitively. The infotainment system has improved noticeably over the years and today simply does what it needs to do, without frills or lag.

One small but noticeable drawback remains: no USB‑C ports, only traditional USB‑A. In 2025, that feels honestly outdated, and charging speeds are correspondingly slow. It is also about the only real point of criticism we could find, which says a lot about how complete the overall package is.

Driving as a philosophy

The A110 GTS drives like a full‑size go‑kart. Everything feels effortless. The car is playful, sharp, refined and incredibly precise. You can read it, feel it, predict it. This is not a sports car that intimidates you, but one that actively makes you a better driver.

Once again, Alpine has succeeded in carrying its philosophy through: lightness, purity and mechanical involvement, all wrapped into a car that has now been around for eight years, yet still feels fresher than most of its competition.

Conclusion: why this car matters

The Alpine A110 GTS may well be the most complete A110 to date. Not the most extreme, not the most comfortable, but the one that brings everything together. This is a sports car for people who genuinely want to drive. For those who value enjoyment over numbers. For whom every corner matters.

If you want one, hesitation is not advised. The future of the A110 remains uncertain, and while Alpine openly talks about electrification, we secretly hope this car is allowed to keep its combustion engine for a little while longer. Cars like this are no longer being made.
