The all-new BMW iX3 ushers in a new era for BMW. As the very first production model of the Neue Klasse, this electric SAV combines a completely renewed technology architecture with a fresh design language, a forward-looking user experience and a clear focus on sustainability. The result is a BMW that is noticeably different, yet more BMW than ever.

A new generation of electric driving

The iX3 is a huge leap over its predecessor. Not just a model update, but a completely new development platform with sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. Thanks to a combination of more efficient motors, new high-voltage batteries with cylindrical cells and an optimised electronics architecture, the iX3 achieves:

• 469 hp and 645 Nm

• 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 s

• A WLTP range of between 679 and 805 km

• And up to 372 km of extra range after barely 10 minutes at an 800-volt fast charger

This new generation of eDrive reduces energy loss by 40%, cuts weight by 10% and increases charging speed by 30%. It makes the iX3 not only faster and more efficient, but also considerably more practical in daily use.

Design, redefined

With the iX3 BMW introduces a completely new design language: timeless, clean and deliberately minimalist. The proportions remain typically SAV, but every surface is drawn more simply, more purely and more muscularly. The more vertical BMW kidney grille subtly references the historic Neue Klasse models, while the new light signature gives a premium look without traditional chrome accents.

Aerodynamics have been greatly improved (Cd 0.24), thanks among other things to flush glass surfaces, recessed door handles and optimised wheels up to 22 inch. The iX3 looks modern, solid and technically refined without trying to be overly futuristic.

Inside, BMW opts for space, calm and light. The horizontal layout, the new floating dashboard and high-quality upholsteries (Veganza, M PerformTex or BMW Individual) create an elegant, warm atmosphere. The vehicle architecture offers exceptional room for five people, and boot volume runs from 520 to 1,750 litres, with an extra 58-litre frunk.

Panoramic iDrive: a new level of interaction

The iX3 is the first BMW model equipped with BMW Panoramic iDrive, a completely new control concept that brings three displays and light and sound elements together into one seamless whole:

• Panoramic Vision: projects information across the full width of the windscreen

• Free-standing central display with an improved touch interface

• Advanced 3D Head-Up Display (optional)

Everything runs on BMW Operating System X: faster, clearer and more personal. Physical buttons remain where they are relevant (driving functions, wipers, hazard lights), while other functions are operated intuitively by voice and touch. Streaming via YouTube, AirConsole games and apps such as Spotify and Disney+ are part of the standard digital offering.

Driving dynamics strengthened by a new digital backbone

Beneath the floor sits a new electronic nervous system with four powerful superbrains, each offering many times the computing power of the previous generation of systems. The Heart of Joy, responsible for drive, braking and recuperation, processes 10 times more data and ensures immediate response, optimal traction and an exceptionally fluid driving experience.

The assistance systems make a big leap too:

• The new BMW Motorway Assistant allows longer periods of hands-off driving.

• City Assistant recognises traffic lights and reacts automatically.

• Symbiotic Drive lets driver assistance systems and human input flow together into one natural steering and braking experience.

The whole reinforces what has typified BMW for decades: precision, directness and a sense of confidence behind the wheel.

Smarter charging technology, bidirectional too

The iX3 introduces a new standard for EV charging at BMW:

• Up to 400 kW of DC charging power (800 V)

• 10 to 80% in 21 minutes

• 11 kW AC as standard, 22 kW optional

For the first time a BMW production model also has full bidirectional charging capability:

• V2L: powering electrical devices away from home

• V2H: using the car as a home battery

• V2G: feeding energy back into the grid

With the new BMW Wallbox Professional (DC) and MultiContract Plug & Charge, charging becomes simpler and smarter.

Sustainability built into every step

The iX3 is BMW's first model developed from day one according to Design for Circularity, with extra attention to material recycling, product CO₂ and energy consumption:

• 34% lower CO₂ footprint over 200,000 km than its predecessor

• Up to 80% recycled aluminium components

• Interior materials made from 100% recycled PET fibres

• Production in Debrecen entirely without fossil fuels

This makes the iX3 one of the most sustainable BMWs ever produced.
