BYD SEAL U DM-i

With the BYD SEAL U DM-i, BYD takes an important step on the European market. This is the first BYD in Europe with Super DM-i (Dual Mode) technology: an advanced plug-in hybrid architecture that puts electric driving first, without sacrificing range, comfort or performance. The result is a D-segment family SUV that suits anyone who wants to drive sustainably but refuses to compromise.

In practice the SEAL U DM-i feels far more like an electric car than a conventional PHEV. Quiet, smooth and direct, with the reassurance that you can cover long distances effortlessly too.

Super DM-i: electric as the starting point

At the core of the SEAL U DM-i is BYD's Super DM-i technology, in which the electric motor always plays the leading role. In EV mode the car drives fully electrically. When the battery reaches a lower state of charge, the system switches seamlessly to HEV mode, in which the petrol engine mainly serves as an energy source for the electric motors.

The feeling behind the wheel therefore stays electric: linear acceleration, silent operation and immediate response. At the same time charging stress disappears entirely, because the car manages energy automatically via regeneration and smart charging strategies.

Three versions, one clear philosophy

The SEAL U DM-i Design is the most powerful and technically advanced version. With two electric motors (front and rear), all-wheel drive and an 18.3 kWh BYD Blade Battery it delivers a system output of 324 hp and 550 Nm of torque. The result: 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, without drama or noise but with convincing grip and stability. Electric range is 70 km (WLTP), while total range rises to 870 km.

Boost: maximum efficiency every day

The Boost version focuses on range and efficiency. With front-wheel drive, a 197 hp electric motor, an 18.3 kWh Blade Battery and a 1.5-litre hybrid engine it offers 80 km of pure electric range and a total WLTP range of up to 1,080 km. Consumption remains impressively low, with a weighted WLTP figure of just 0.9 l/100 km.

Comfort: electric driving without compromise

The Comfort version is for those who really want to drive electric as much as possible. Thanks to the larger 26.6 kWh Blade Battery this variant offers up to 125 km of electric range (WLTP) and a total range of more than 1,100 km. Ideal for anyone who wants to complete the daily commute fully electric, with maximum flexibility for longer trips.

Blade Battery: safety as the basis

Like every BYD for Europe, the SEAL U DM-i is equipped with the cobalt-free Blade Battery based on LFP chemistry. This battery is known for its exceptional safety, thermal stability and service life. The Blade Battery passes the Nail Penetration Test, one of the strictest safety tests in the industry, with ease.

Charging is practical and simple:

18 kW DC, good for 30 to 80% in about 35 minutes

The SEAL U DM-i also supports V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), so you can power electrical devices directly from the car.

Designed as a true family SUV

With a length of 4,775 mm, a wheelbase of 2,765 mm and a flat floor, the SEAL U DM-i offers generous room for five adults. Rear passengers enjoy plenty of legroom and a quiet cabin with excellent NVH figures. The boot is perfectly suited to family use:

1,440 litres with the rear bench folded (60:40)

Practical details such as multiple storage compartments, four USB ports and dual wireless smartphone chargers make everyday use remarkably comfortable.
