Every so often a car comes along that just makes you smile, and the 5 E-Tech is exactly that. Renault took one of its best-loved names, reimagined it as a compact electric hatch, and somehow nailed the retro-modern look without turning it into a gimmick. It is genuinely fun to drive, cleverly packaged for the city, and priced to bring affordable electric motoring back within reach, which matters more than any spec sheet. If you want an EV with real character rather than another anonymous silent box, this is the one that gets my vote.
