Mazda kills the MX-5 2.0 in Britain, its last European market

Mazda stops selling the 184 hp MX-5 2.0 in the UK from January 2027, closing the last European market where the bigger engine survived. The 1.5 rises to 136 hp and 155 Nm and gains two new Homura grades. The cause is a fleet CO2 rule, not the roadster itself.

BYD's 30,000 km battery claim survives the maths. One number doesn't

BYD says a standard Yangwang U7 covered 30,000 km in under nine days with more than 350 flash charges, and still held 98.7 percent battery capacity. The 240 km/h figure that critics called impossible actually checks out. The charging count is the part that does not.

Porsche quotes up to 1,093 hp for the Taycan Turbo GT, available for two seconds. European registration papers list the same car at 220 hp. Neither figure is spin: one comes from UN GTR 21, the other from UN Regulation 85, and the second is an EU type-approval number that follows the car into every member state.

Mercedes told owners to park outside, a court called that a defect

The same Stuttgart chamber decided two Mercedes EQA cases on 30 July and the carmaker lost both. One buyer gets €51,791 back on a €62,293 car; the other was released from what remained of his Mercedes-Benz Bank loan. Neither car had ever caught fire: the 80 percent charge cap and the order to park outdoors were the defect.
