D’Ieteren Energy and Brussels Expo gear up Belgium

A unique charging park for electric cars

30/12/2025

Electric mobility isn't decided only in boardrooms or policy papers, it becomes visible above all in the places where people come together. That's exactly where D’Ieteren Energy and Brussels Expo are taking an important step forward. Together, they’re building one of the largest public charging parks for electric vehicles in Belgium, right at the iconic Heizel site.
The infrastructure will be operational from the opening of the Motor Show in January and is thus not only a technical feat, but also a powerful signal: electric mobility belongs in everyday life, and at large-scale events too.

A charging park built for today and tomorrow

The new charging park at Brussels Expo is designed with one clear ambition: frictionless access to charging, even at peak times. In total, 178 charging points are being rolled out across various car parks on the site, strategically distributed to give visitors maximum comfort.

Fast charging becomes possible via three DC fast-charging stations, good for six ultra-rapid charging points. In addition, 86 dual AC charging posts provide as many as 172 additional charging points, suitable for every type of electric car. The infrastructure is present at, among others, car parks M, B, B PERS, H, E, TRAMA, S, T and C, exactly where visitor flows are greatest.

More than technology: a better visitor experience

For visitors to the Motor Show and the many other international events Brussels Expo organises every year, this means a concrete improvement to the experience. No more charging stress, no detours to external charging points, charging becomes a natural part of the visit.

According to Denis Delforge, CEO of Brussels Expo, this fits perfectly within the site’s broader vision: not just talking about sustainability, but actually organising it. With millions of visitors a year, Brussels Expo is precisely the kind of place where mobility transitions need to be tangible.

D’Ieteren Energy as an accelerator of the energy transition

For D’Ieteren Energy, this project is a logical continuation of a clear strategy: making electric charging accessible everywhere, including outside the classic home and work environments. The company is building, step by step, a complete ecosystem around energy and mobility, with charging solutions, charging cards, solar panels, batteries and smart energy management platforms.

CEO Tangi Merckx emphasises that electric mobility only really works when it’s seamlessly and visibly integrated into people’s lives, including during major public events such as the Motor Show.
