A Financial Times report claims Volkswagen has revisited selling or floating Lamborghini and Ducati to help fund its costly transformation. Insiders suggest a possible Lamborghini stock listing, with Audi keeping control, and a potential outright sale of Ducati. VW has neither confirmed nor denied it, saying only that all its brands must fundamentally transform. It comes amid huge pressure: falling China sales, EV costs, US tariffs, 35,000-plus German job cuts by 2030 and possible factory closures.

Ferrari has revealed the 12Cilindri Manuale, giving its 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 a clutch pedal and gearlever again. It makes 830 hp and revs to 9,500 rpm, with 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and a 340 km/h top speed. The catch is that it uses a new Manuale By-Wire system: an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox that emulates a six-speed manual, complete with clutch, and can switch to full automatic at the push of a button. Just 1,499 will be built.

McMurtry has revealed the production-ready Speirling PURE, its fan-powered electric single-seater, priced at around 995,000 pounds with deliveries later in 2026. It makes 1,000 hp to the rear wheels, hits 0-100 km/h in 1.55 seconds and generates up to 2,000 kg of downforce from a standstill via twin fans spinning at 23,000 rpm, enough grip that it famously drove upside down. Some 95 percent of components are new versus the prototype, including a bigger 100 kWh battery.

BYD Belgium has broken the 2% market share barrier for the first time, a milestone reached in June 2026 and announced on 2 July. Confirmed by FEBIAC registration data, it makes BYD one of Belgium's fastest-growing car brands, with a strong showing across both private and fleet buyers. The company credits an expanded model line-up, a growing dealer network and steady month-on-month gains, and says the result keeps it on track for its 2026 goals.

Alpine has revealed the A110 FUTURE, a development mule previewing its electric third-generation A110, which it calls the world's first true EV sports car. It uses the new Alpine Performance Platform with an aluminium structure, dual rear e-motors with a 3-in-1 e-axle, 800V cell-to-pack battery tech and a 40/60 front-to-rear weight balance. The mule runs daily at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 9 to 12 July, with the production car to follow afterwards.

Production of the petrol Alpine A110 has ended at the Dieppe factory as of 1 July 2026. In total, 35,450 A110s have been built there since 1969, including 28,701 of the current generation launched in 2017. The very last car was an A110 R 70 with 300 hp in Alpine Blue. A third-generation A110, targeted to be the first true electric sports car, will follow on Alpine's new APP platform, also built in Dieppe.

Did you know that Jason Castriota, the designer of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, built himself a one-off version of it? Starting from his own rare manual-gearbox 599, he spent two years re-bodying the car in carbon fibre into the aggressive GT Speciale, finished in a unique Blu Notte over Poltrona Rau leather. With its 6.0-litre V12 and six-speed manual, it may be the last great analogue V12 Ferrari, and it is worth many hundreds of thousands.

The BMW iX5 60 xDrive and Porsche Cayenne S Electric are two of the most complete electric SUVs on sale, and they take very different routes. The BMW wins on range (up to 845 km versus 653 km), charging (460 kW) and price (102,500 euro in Belgium versus 129,702 euro). The Porsche hits back with 666 hp against 578 hp, 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a 250 km/h top speed. Both are hugely impressive machines.

Pagani founder Horacio Pagani has fulfilled a 60-year dream, buying the Ferrari 275 GTB4 he first fell for as a boy in Argentina after seeing one on a magazine cover. He acquired chassis 09021, the rare first pre-series car shown at the 1966 Paris Motor Show, at an RM Sotheby's auction in 2022, then had it painstakingly restored with Ferrari Classiche and Kessel in Lugano, even recreating the original Rosso Rubino paint from a 1960s tin.
