A robot vacuum company promised a 0.9-second rocket supercar, and has quietly given up on cars

Dreame, the robot vacuum maker, has shut down its car division a year after entering the market, ending a rocket-boosted electric hypercar that claimed 0 to 100 km/h in 0.9 seconds. Layoffs since May have cut a team of nearly 1,000 people to a few dozen. Former staff told China Economy that the concept shown at CES had no chassis and was moved around by remote control.

Continental's 43% recycled EV tyre is ready. The rulebook is not

Continental has built a passenger car tyre from roughly 43 percent recycled material that still earns the top EU label rating for rolling resistance, developed inside the EU funded ZEvRA circularity project. The supplier says the engineering works, but Europe has no agreed definition of recycled content to let it scale.

A Geely-owned plug-in hybrid just crossed the Sahara to prove it can go 1,000 km

Geely-owned brand Lynk & Co drove its 08 plug-in hybrid SUV 3,200 km across the Sahara, from Morocco to Senegal, to show off its range. The 08 offers up to 200 km of pure-electric range and more than 1,000 km combined, and already holds two Guinness range records. The stunt underlines how big combined range is becoming the industry's answer to charging worries.

Geely is chasing a five-minute charge, and Europe is nowhere near

Geely is developing a 1,000-volt electrical architecture to push its 10 to 80 percent charging time below five and a half minutes, replacing the 800-volt systems used by Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Zeekr and Lynk & Co. The group has already installed more than 2,100 charging points rated at up to 1,500 kW, far beyond what any of its cars can currently accept, while Europe's fastest public chargers stop at 350 to 400 kW.

The warnings are shared beyond Volvo through the European Data for Road Safety framework, so other brands and traffic authorities can read them too.

Michelin keeps the Hypercar tyre contract to 2032, which means the tyre war stays cancelled

The FIA and the ACO have extended Michelin's exclusive Hypercar tyre contract in the FIA World Endurance Championship through the end of 2032, and confirmed Goodyear as the sole LMGT3 supplier for 2030 to 2032. Both classes stay single-supplier, both incumbents keep their grip, and the tyre war stays firmly off the table.
