BMW i3 colours revealed: how personalisation becomes a key part of the electric 3 Series

After unveiling the all-new BMW i3, BMW is now quietly revealing another crucial layer of the story: personalisation.

Personalisation becomes a key part of the electric 3 Series.

While the full configurator is not yet live, we now have a first look at the available exterior and interior colours and they tell us a lot about where BMW is heading with the Neue Klasse. Because this isn’t just about choosing a colour. This is about redefining what a premium EV should feel like.

A colour palette that moves beyond traditional BMW

Let’s start with the exterior. BMW is clearly stepping away from its traditionally conservative palette and introducing a more expressive, almost lifestyle-driven range of colours.

Confirmed options include:

  • Ocean Wave Blue

  • Alpinweiss

  • Saphirschwarz metallic

  • Spacesilber metallic

  • Brooklyn Grau

  • Eucalyptus Grün metallic

  • Fire Rot metallic

  • Polarized Grey

  • Frozen Space Silver metallic

What stands out immediately is the balance between heritage and experimentation. Classic BMW tones like black, white and grey remain, but they’re now complemented by colours like Eucalyptus Green and Ocean Wave Blue, which feel more aligned with a new, electrified identity.

Interior: where BMW really changes the game

If the exterior shows evolution, the interior shows transformation. The BMW i3 introduces a completely rethought interior philosophy, and the colour/material combinations reinforce that.

Available interior themes include:

  • Contemporary | Digital White

  • Contemporary | Bicolor Black

  • Contemporary | Castanea Bicolor

  • Contemporary | Agave Green Bicolor

  • BMW M Interior | Black

  • BMW Individual Merino | Black

The key shift here? BMW is moving towards a more architectural, lounge-like interior feel, rather than the traditional “driver cockpit” approach alone.

Lighter tones like Digital White and Agave Green suggest a focus on space, calmness and modern living, something we’re increasingly seeing across premium EVs.

AutoNext Take

In our previous coverage of the BMW i3 Neue Klasse, we highlighted the technological leap: 800V architecture, 900 km range, next-gen software. Now we’re seeing the other side of that story. BMW understands that in the EV era, emotion matters just as much as performance.

f executed well (especially once the configurator goes live) this could become one of the strongest selling points of the new i3. Because in a world where many EVs feel similar, the ability to make a car truly yours might be the real luxury.
