This is exactly how you celebrate an icon.

Born from motorsport, shaped by touring car racing and now celebrating its 40th anniversary, the first-generation M3 remains one of the most important performance cars BMW has ever built. And now, BMW Group and the LEGO Group are turning that legacy into something smaller, simpler and honestly very hard not to want. The LEGO Speed Champions BMW M3 E30 is officially here, complete with a unique livery co-created by BMW and LEGO designers.

A small set with big BMW M energy

The new LEGO Speed Champions BMW M3 E30 set contains 358 pieces and measures 17 cm long and 7 cm wide. The design recreates the key elements that made the original E30 M3 instantly recognisable: the compact proportions, the BMW kidney grille, the rear spoiler, the square stance and of course the front end with its four round headlights.

It also comes with functional wheels and a driver minifigure wearing a BMW M T-shirt. Small details, but exactly the kind that matter to collectors.

The livery is not just for LEGO

The coolest part is the livery. BMW and LEGO did not simply apply a generic racing-inspired design to the model. The two design teams created a special colour scheme inspired by BMW M Motorsport, and that livery has also been applied to a real BMW M3 E30 showcar.

The LEGO model becomes a scale version of a real one-off tribute, while the full-size M3 E30 turns the collaboration into something fans can actually experience outside the box. The showcar will be presented publicly in Berlin on 1 August 2026, alongside other highlights celebrating the 40th anniversary of the BMW M3 E30.

Price and availability

The LEGO Speed Champions BMW M3 E30 is now available for pre-order via LEGO.com. It will be released on 1 August 2026 through LEGO stores, BMW dealers, lifestyle.bmw.com and LEGO.com worldwide. The recommended retail price is €27.99.

BMW will also release a scaled-up version of the minifigure’s BMW M T-shirt from the same date, made from organic cotton and featuring prints on the front and back.

AutoNext Take

Not everyone can own an E30 M3. Most people cannot even get close to a good one anymore, considering how valuable and collectible they have become. But a LEGO Speed Champions version lets the car live on in a different way. And the real showcar is the perfect touch.

BMW M3 CS Handschalter: the manual, rear-wheel-drive M3 Europe somehow does not get

BMW M has built the M3 we all secretly wanted. And Europe is not getting it. The new BMW M3 CS Handschalter is a limited-edition sendoff for the sixth-generation M3, combining the sharper, lighter, more focused character of a CS model with the thing enthusiasts still romanticise more than almost anything else: a 6-speed manual gearbox. Even better, it is rear-wheel drive.
