Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Arabesque: Worlds first laser-engraved bonnet
12/02/2026
What happens when centuries‑old Arabic architecture meets British ultra‑luxury, under the beam of precision lasers.
The Rolls‑Royce Phantom Arabesque is not a special edition. It is a one‑off statement. And more importantly, it is the very first Rolls‑Royce ever to feature a fully laser‑engraved bonnet. Five years of development. One client. One vision.

Mashrabiya, rendered in steel and paint
The inspiration behind the Phantom Arabesque comes from traditional mashrabiya architecture from the Middle East. These finely carved wooden lattice structures appear in palaces and courtyards, where they combine privacy, ventilation and shade with pure aesthetics. Rolls‑Royce now translates that motif onto the bonnet of a Phantom Extended. No decal. No wrap. No raised relief sitting on top of the paint.
The geometric patterns are engraved between one hundred forty five and one hundred ninety microns deep into the upper paint layers using a patented laser technique. For reference, a human hair is roughly fifty to seventy microns thick. This is sculptural precision at a microscopic level.
The process works as follows. First, the bonnet is painted in a dark base colour. Multiple layers of clear coat are then applied. A lighter top layer follows. Only then is the mashrabiya pattern laser‑milled, revealing the darker layer beneath. The result is not a print, but a three‑dimensional, living texture that plays with light and shadow. A surface you do not just see, but almost want to touch.
Two tones, pure authority
The Phantom Arabesque wears a Bespoke two‑tone finish, with Diamond Black as the base colour and Silver on the upper body sections. The single coachline is hand‑painted and subtly incorporates a mashrabiya motif.
At the front sits the illuminated Pantheon grille in Dark Chrome, flanked by a glowing Spirit of Ecstasy. The twenty two inch wheels are partially polished, reinforcing the contrast between tradition and modernity.
Interior: cool serenity
Inside, everything revolves around calm, symmetry and craftsmanship. The full width of the dashboard is occupied by the Gallery, housing a marquetry artwork in Blackwood and Bolivar wood that reinterprets the mashrabiya pattern once more.
The interior combines Selby Grey and Black leather, with black piping and embroidered mashrabiya motifs in the headrests. The Starlight Doors feature contrasting stitching and subtle lighting accents. Even the treadplates reference the engraved bonnet pattern. Everything aligns. Everything is deliberate.
Private Office Dubai, where dreams take shape
The Phantom Arabesque was curated by Private Office Dubai, one of five exclusive Rolls‑Royce commissioning hubs worldwide. This is where ideas are translated into unique creations for clients who have no need for a catalogue. The car has now been delivered to a collector in the Middle East. One example. Never repeated.
