I keep coming back to the M3 Touring as the smartest thing BMW M builds right now. It is quick enough to worry almost anything on your favourite road, yet it hides an estate boot and rear seats that make it genuinely useful seven days a week. Unlike the bigger M5 estate it still feels compact and eager rather than heavy, which is the whole trick. If I could own one M car for real life, this would be it.
