Ineos d'occasion

Ineos Automotive was born in a London pub. In 2016 Jim Ratcliffe, founder of the Ineos chemicals group, was drinking in the Grenadier in Belgravia and lamenting the end of the original Land Rover Defender. Rather than mourn it, he decided to build its spiritual successor, and named the car after the pub.

The Grenadier arrived in 2022 with a ladder chassis, solid axles, BMW straight-six engines and an interior designed to be hosed out. It is built in Hambach in France, in the factory Mercedes had used for the smart, and it does not pretend to be anything other than a working 4x4.

Today Ineos sells the Grenadier station wagon and the Quartermaster pick-up, and is developing the Fusilier, a smaller model with electric and range-extender power. It is the rarest thing in the modern car industry: a new manufacturer built by an enthusiast, for enthusiasts, with the money to see it through.
