The Talisman never got the attention it deserved, and that is precisely what makes it a smart used buy today. Renault built it in Douai as a saloon and Grandtour estate until early 2022, and the 2020 facelift cars are the ones to find: the 1.3 TCe 160 and 1.8 TCe 225 petrols both use a seven-speed EDC gearbox, while the 2.0 Blue dCi diesels with 160 or 200 hp are built for long distances. Top versions have 4Control four-wheel steering with adaptive dampers, which shrinks the turning circle and makes this big car surprisingly agile. That tech is also what to check: make sure the rear-wheel steering and the dampers work without warning lights before you buy. Buy one if you want a long, comfortable, well-equipped saloon or estate and prefer something less common than the usual German choices.
