Did you know the legend behind Jeep's seven-slot grille is a myth?

Jeep's seven-slot grille is one of the most recognisable faces in motoring, and the myth says the seven slots stand for the seven continents. The real reason is more practical: the wartime Jeep had a nine-slot grille patented by Ford, so Willys removed two slots to differ from it and to fit larger civilian headlights. It debuted on the 1945 CJ-2A and is now a registered trademark.

The UK is about to tax electric cars by the mile, and the rest of Europe is watching

Mileage will be logged via odometer readings and MOT checks. The fleet sector warns it could cost 260 million pounds a year and slow EV adoption.

The worry is that the electric handles can be hard to open after a crash, and China will ban the design from 2027.
