Three Belgian sports stars are sharing a Mazda MX-5 at the 24 Hours of Zolder

Footballer Toby Alderweireld, former cyclocross world champion Niels Albert and TV presenter Ruben Van Gucht are teaming up to race a Mazda MX-5 in the 24 Hours of Zolder on 29-30 August 2026. The celebrity team, run by MSTC with journalist-racer Alain De Jong and mentored by seven-time Zolder winner Bert Longin, is backed by Mazda Belgium.

The Porsche GT4 racer is now a 911, because the Cayman is going electric

Porsche has revealed the 911 GT4 R, its first GT4 customer racing car based on the 911 rather than the Cayman. It succeeds the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, of which more than 1,500 were built, as the combustion Cayman is phased out ahead of the model going electric. The car uses a 4.0-litre flat-six from the 911 Cup good for 520 hp, restricted to around 430 hp under Balance of Performance rules, and races from the 2027 season.

Aston Martin has revealed the Vantage S Spa-Francorchamps, an ultra-exclusive edition limited to just 12 examples and sold only in Belgium and Luxembourg. Created through Q by Aston Martin in collaboration with the circuit itself, it celebrates the brand's history at the 24 Hours of Spa with bespoke design details inside and out. It uses an enhanced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 680 hp, and makes its public debut at the 2026 CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

The Skoda Peaq is the brand's biggest car yet, and it is all-electric

Skoda has revealed the Peaq, its new all-electric flagship and the largest car the brand has ever built. The seven-seat SUV measures 4.87 metres long, offers more than 640 km of range and up to 935 litres of boot space. Power runs from 201 hp to 295 hp across rear- and all-wheel-drive versions, with two battery sizes. It is the electric counterpart to the Kodiaq and doubles Skoda's EV portfolio alongside the Epiq.

The Freelander name has returned, not as a Land Rover but as a standalone brand created by a Chery-JLR joint venture in China. The first model, the Freelander 8 First Edition, is an extended-range electric SUV (EREV) with around 560 hp, 221 km of electric-only range and a 1.5-litre petrol engine acting purely as a generator. It rides on an 800V platform with advanced off-road and driver-assistance tech, and is sold exclusively in China.

Maserati has created a one-off MCPura Cielo through its Fuoriserie programme to mark its centenary. The MCPura Cielo Tributo 1926 references the year Alfieri Maserati raced the Tipo 26, the first car to wear the Trident, and was delivered in Modena on the day the 2026 Mille Miglia passed through. It wears a Grigio Lamiera Matte finish with a tricolour racing livery and a reproduction of the original Tipo 26 badge.

Renault has revealed a midlife update for the Megane E-Tech, bringing a bolder new face, a larger 67kWh battery with up to 500 km of range and a peak DC charging speed of 165kW. Xiaomi sent its 1,003 hp SUV around the Nurburgring with no one inside

Xiaomi's YU7 GT, a 1,003 hp electric SUV, has completed what is claimed to be the world's first fully autonomous lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. With no driver on board, the car's software navigated the entire 20.8 km circuit in 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds. The lap is far slower than a human would manage in the same car, but the point was the achievement itself: a self-driving system handling the world's hardest track.

Hyundai's new i20 N is coming back for Europe with hybrid power

Hyundai has confirmed that a new generation i20 N is coming to Europe, powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine paired with a dual hybrid motor system expected to produce up to around 300hp.
