The Italian masterpiece has just received another major recognition, winning “Design of the Year” at the prestigious Portuguese automotive awards Carro do Ano: Troféu Volante de Cristal. It’s yet another reminder that Alfa Romeo’s most exclusive modern creation is being perceived not merely as a supercar, but as a true piece of automotive art.
A modern interpretation of an automotive icon
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is directly inspired by one of the most beautiful cars ever built: the legendary Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale (1967). Just like its spiritual predecessor, the modern 33 Stradale was designed with a clear philosophy: absolute purity of form.
Every surface, curve and proportion was developed to balance aerodynamics, mechanical performance and visual drama. The result is a car that feels sculpted rather than assembled, something increasingly rare in a world dominated by aerodynamic compromises and regulatory constraints.

To underline its artistic character, the car was also displayed at the MACAM – Museu de Arte Contemporânea Armando Martins in Lisbon.
Presenting the car in a museum setting was no coincidence. The 33 Stradale was conceived with the intention of blurring the line between industrial design and sculpture, something Alfa Romeo’s designers openly acknowledge.

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale represents the ultimate expression of Alfa Romeo’s modern design language. Built in extremely limited numbers, each example is effectively handcrafted and highly customized, combining historic inspiration with modern engineering.
The car also gained additional exposure in Portugal through the film “A Dream in Red”, produced by Razão Automóvel, which was nominated for the International Motor Film Awards in 2025. The production captures the emotional essence of the 33 Stradale and its connection to Alfa Romeo’s heritage.
