Lamborghini Revuelto Roadster reportedly cancelled over roof issue

The Revuelto Roadster is not happening, with roof packaging likely the issue. That could leave the Temerario Spyder as Lamborghini’s only regular open-top supercar.

The Lamborghini Revuelto Roadster may not be happening after all.

According to dealer-level information shared after the recent Fenomeno Roadster launch, the issue is not lack of demand. It is not lack of emotion. It is not because people suddenly stopped wanting open-top V12 Lamborghinis. It is the roof. More specifically: where to put it.

It means the Revuelto may remain coupé-only in regular production, with Lamborghini focusing instead on an eventual Revuelto SV and leaving the open-top role to the upcoming Temerario Spyder. For a brand with such a rich V12 Roadster history, that is a big deal.

The Revuelto packaging problem

The Revuelto is already an extremely complex car. It combines a naturally aspirated V12 with three electric motors, a hybrid system and a dual-clutch gearbox, producing 1,015 CV in total. Lamborghini positions it as the brand’s first HPEV hybrid super sports car and the successor to the Aventador lineage.

The V12 is large. The hybrid components add complexity. The structure has to remain incredibly stiff. Cooling is critical. Weight distribution matters. And then, if you want a Roadster, you also need space for either a retractable roof mechanism or removable roof panels.

A V12 Lamborghini without a Roadster would break tradition

That is why this story feels so strange. The Murciélago Roadster existed. Lamborghini even produced ultra-limited versions such as the Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster, with a 6.5-litre V12, 650 CV and a 330 km/h top speed.

The Aventador S Roadster existed too, with Lamborghini itself calling it an open-top V12 expression of the Aventador family. And the Aventador SVJ Roadster became one of the most extreme versions of the breed, limited to 800 examples and powered by the 770 hp naturally aspirated V12. So a Revuelto without a regular Roadster would feel like a genuine break from the modern V12 Lamborghini pattern.

The Temerario Spyder may carry the open-top role

The good news is that Lamborghini is not abandoning open-top supercars completely. The Temerario Spyder has already been spotted testing in camouflage at the Nürburgring, with reports suggesting Lamborghini is preparing a convertible version of its new V8 hybrid supercar.

The Temerario replaces the Huracán, and a Spyder version feels almost inevitable. It also gives Lamborghini a regular-production open-top supercar without forcing the Revuelto into a layout that may not work properly.

What about the Fenomeno Roadster?

The Fenomeno Roadster proves Lamborghini can still build a roofless V12 hybrid when it wants to.

But that car is a different kind of object. It is an ultra-limited speedster-style creation, reportedly limited to just 15 examples, using a more extreme version of the Revuelto-based hybrid V12 powertrain and a fully open concept rather than a normal retractable roof solution.

Ferrari may suddenly have an opening

There will always be buyers who want a V12 Lamborghini coupé. The Revuelto still has the drama, the doors, the sound, the hybrid power and the Sant’Agata theatre. But there is also a type of client who specifically wants a V12 open-top experience.

And if Lamborghini does not offer one in the regular line-up, Ferrari suddenly looks very interesting. The Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider exists precisely as a front-engined V12 open-top grand tourer, keeping the emotional open-air twelve-cylinder formula alive in Maranello’s range.

AutoNext Take

The Revuelto Roadster felt like one of those cars that simply had to exist. A V12 Lamborghini flagship without a Roadster version feels almost wrong, especially after the Murciélago and Aventador generations gave us some unforgettable open-top machines.

But we also understand the problem. The Revuelto is not just an Aventador with a new body. It is a far more complicated hybrid V12 platform. If Lamborghini cannot package a roof properly without ruining proportions, stiffness, weight or usability, then maybe not building it is the right engineering decision. Still, that does not make it less painful.

MANSORY turns the Lamborghini Revuelto into the 1,070 hp Carbonado Damask X

MANSORY does not do subtle. And the new MANSORY Carbonado Damask X proves that once again. Based on the Lamborghini Revuelto, this one-off creation takes Sant’Agata’s V12 hybrid flagship and turns every visual dial far past eleven. The entire bodywork has been redesigned and built from a special brown carbon fibre structure, giving the car a look that is somewhere between hypercar, art object and extremely expensive sci-fi weapon.

Lamborghini Revuelto NA63 is a 63-unit V12 hybrid tribute Europe will not get

The new Lamborghini Revuelto NA63 is a special edition created exclusively for North America, with all 63 units destined for the United States and Canada. The number 63 is not random, of course. It refers to 1963, the year Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the company, and gains extra meaning in 2026, the brand’s 63rd anniversary. And yes, for European Lamborghini fans, that makes this one slightly painful.
