MANHART MH5 900E: when the BMW M5 Touring becomes a 910-hp hyper wagon
27/03/2026
Straight from the factory, the latest M5 Touring already delivers astonishing numbers.
But for German tuner MANHART Performance, that was only the beginning. Enter the MANHART MH5 900E Touring, a dramatically enhanced interpretation of BMW’s hybrid performance wagon and one that pushes the platform to an entirely new level.
From hybrid super wagon to 910 horsepower
The standard M5 Touring already occupies a fascinating niche in the automotive world: a luxurious estate capable of devastating straight-line performance. MANHART’s transformation amplifies that concept. At the heart of the MH5 900E remains the 4.4-litre S68 twin-turbo V8, now upgraded with MANHART’s turbo optimisation package and the brand’s proven MHtronik powerbox.
The result is remarkable. Total system output climbs to 910 hp and 1,200 Nm, turning the already formidable M5 Touring into something that rivals modern hypercars in sheer thrust. It also perfectly illustrates a broader shift in performance engineering: hybridisation is no longer just about efficiency. Increasingly, it is becoming a tool to unlock extreme levels of performance.
A voice worthy of the numbers
With power figures approaching hypercar territory, the sound and visual drama also needed an upgrade. MANHART therefore developed a dedicated stainless-steel exhaust system with valve control, finished with massive 115-mm matte black tailpipes.
The transformation is significant: the discreet executive express suddenly gains the presence (and voice) of a true high-performance machine.
Sharper dynamics and a more aggressive stance
To further enhance driving dynamics, MANHART offers two suspension upgrade options. Customers can choose between H&R lowering springs developed for MANHART or a more advanced KW Variant 4 coil-over suspension system.
Both setups lower the ride height and sharpen the car’s dynamic behaviour, giving the already muscular M5 Touring an even more purposeful stance. Interestingly, the showcased vehicle retains the standard BMW braking system, although MANHART can provide bespoke brake upgrades on request.
Subtle design, unmistakable identity
The BMW M5 Touring (G91) already leaves the factory with a bold presence, so the tuner opted for its signature black-and-gold decal package, combined with striking wheel options. The highlight is the MANHART Concave One wheel design, available in multiple configurations.
Standard versions measure 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear, while forged alternatives push exclusivity even further with massive 22-inch front and rear setups, wrapped in ultra-wide performance tyres. The result is a stance that visually reinforces the car’s extraordinary performance.
AutoNext Take
For decades, Germany’s tuning scene has been one of the most influential in the automotive world. Names like AC Schnitzer, Alpina, Hamann or Brabus helped define entire eras of enthusiast culture, creating machines that often felt like factory-approved alternatives to the original cars.
That is why the recent closure of AC Schnitzer felt like the end of an era for many BMW enthusiasts. Yet the tuning world rarely stays quiet for long.
Projects like the MANHART MH5 900E prove that the spirit of extreme German tuning is still very much alive. While some legendary names disappear, others continue to push the boundaries, and sometimes even push them further than before.
