Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey (992.2) breaks the Nürburgring barrier again and it’s not even close

On a track where tenths matter, that’s not an improvement. That’s a statement.

We’ll keep it simple: this is peak engineering.

The Porsche 911 GT3 (992.2) with Manthey Kit just did the latter and did it with authority. With a new official Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6:50.863, the latest Manthey-enhanced GT3 is not just faster. It’s significantly faster. Nearly five seconds quicker than the previous 992.1 Manthey setup.

The Nürburgring still tells the truth

The Nordschleife remains the ultimate benchmark. 20.832 kilometers of relentless corners, elevation changes, and zero margin for error. If a car is fast here, it’s fast everywhere. Behind the wheel was reigning DTM champion Ayhancan Güven, who pushed the GT3 Manthey to its absolute limit under improved conditions compared to last year’s run.

The result speaks for itself. What’s even more telling is his feedback. In certain sections, the road car felt close to race car pace, specifically referencing Porsche’s own “Grello” GT3 R benchmark.

Manthey doesn’t add power, it adds speed

Here’s where things get interesting. Unlike many performance upgrades, the Manthey Kit doesn’t rely on more horsepower. The engine remains the same naturally aspirated masterpiece. Instead, everything focuses on one thing: efficiency. Aerodynamics, suspension, and mechanical grip.

The upgrades are extensive but purposeful. A significantly more aggressive aero package increases downforce dramatically, while the underbody has been reworked for smoother airflow. The rear wing is larger, the front lip sharper, and the diffuser more effective. At speed, this GT3 generates up to over 500 kg of downforce.

Precision over brute force

To match the increased aero load, the suspension setup has been completely reworked. The Manthey kit introduces a four-way adjustable coil-over system, allowing drivers to fine-tune compression and rebound without tools. Spring rates have been increased, and the entire chassis setup has been recalibrated specifically for track performance.

Optional lightweight forged wheels reduce unsprung mass, improving response and stability. This isn’t about making the car harder. It’s about making it more precise. And that’s exactly where Porsche and Manthey excel.

The most impressive part? It’s still a road car

Here’s the part that makes this even more absurd. You can walk into a Porsche Center, order the Manthey Kit, install it… and keep your factory warranty.

No compromises. No grey areas. Just a road-legal car capable of running a sub-6:51 Nürburgring lap time. In today’s world of increasingly digital, filtered driving experiences, that feels almost unreal.

AutoNext Take

We’ll keep it simple: this is peak engineering. Because while the industry is obsessed with electrification, software, and artificial performance metrics, Porsche is still perfecting something far more difficult, mechanical purity.

No extra power. No gimmicks. Just smarter aerodynamics, better suspension, and relentless attention to detail. The Manthey GT3 isn’t just faster than before. It’s a reminder of what performance used to mean, and what we might lose.

For now, though? If you want the ultimate driver’s car that still wears a license plate… This is as close as it gets. Or is that the GT3 RS Manthey?

Porsche exits Bugatti Rimac, end of an era or strategic reset?

For years, the Bugatti Rimac joint venture represented one of the most fascinating alliances in the automotive world (a blend of legacy, engineering heritage, and cutting-edge electric innovation) but as of April 2026, that chapter is coming to a close. And while the official communication frames this as a “focus on core business,” the implications run far deeper than a simple portfolio reshuffle.

Porsche 911 GT3 Artisan Edition: a Japanese tribute… built entirely on Porsche’s terms

While other brands tend to shout about limited editions with louder wings and bigger numbers, Porsche prefers to tell a story, often one rooted in culture, craftsmanship, and restraint. The new Porsche 911 GT3 Artisan Edition, created by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and reserved exclusively for Japan, is exactly that kind of story.

When a 911 becomes Woody, Buzz and Jessie, brilliant storytelling or creative stretch?

A Porsche 911 (arguably one of the most iconic and pure sports cars ever built) reimagined through the lens of Toy Story, one of the most beloved animated franchises of all time. And yet, in 2026, this is exactly what Porsche, Disney and Pixar are bringing to life, with three one-off 911 models inspired by Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, set to debut at the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles.
