Range Rover restored a 1993 Classic to match its newest flagship, and both are for sale
Thirty-three years apart, finished as twins
Range Rover has done something rather special: taken a 1993 Classic and rebuilt it, over more than 2,000 hours, to mirror its newest flagship. Finished in the same Titan Silver as the SV Ultra and trimmed to match, it is being sold alongside that modern car as a matched pair at Monterey.
Liquid metal on a 1993 body
The Classic wears Titan Silver, the colour that made its debut on the new SV Ultra. It uses real fine aluminium flakes and advanced pigment technology to create a highly reflective, pearlescent surface that genuinely looks like liquid metal. Completing the theme are 16-inch three-spoke wheels in Satin Platinum Atlas with a diamond-turned contrasting rim, the new SV Ultra bonnet script, and deleted side mouldings so the surfaces stay as clean as the modern car's. Under the bonnet, a badge marks it as the first bespoke matched-pair commission.
A first for the Classic interior
Inside is where it gets really interesting. This is the first Range Rover Classic to use Ultrafabrics, here in the SV Ultra's light two-tone Orchid White and Cinder Grey. The dashboard is trimmed in Cinder Grey with colour-matched vents, and the steering wheel combines both shades. The seats carry the same laser-cut pattern and fine mosaic perforation that debuted on the SV Ultra, running across the moulded upper sections, inserts and backrests, while the doors get brushed aluminium handles and colour-matched speaker covers.
Two thousand hours of work
The donor started life as a US-market County Edition, powered by a 3.9-litre V8 with a four-speed automatic. The Classic Works team spent more than 2,000 hours on it, covering fabrication, paint, trim and final assembly. Mechanical authenticity was the guiding principle, with a thorough overhaul of the engine, transmission, suspension, steering and brakes, improving reliability and refinement while keeping the original car's character intact.
Bespoke, to a point most people never see
The commission is really a showcase for what Range Rover's Bespoke service can do, from custom embroidery and lettering to a wide range of leathers and non-leather alternatives, plus a Match to Sample paint service that can reproduce virtually any colour. "Range Rover SV Ultra is the pinnacle of tailored distinction, and this commission is a reflection of how our process can elevate any generation of Range Rover while maintaining its essence," said Dominic Elms, Director of Land Rover Classic.
Where to see it, and buy it
The pair makes its public debut during Monterey Car Week, on display from 12 to 14 August at the RM Sotheby's auction preview in the Monterey Conference Center, open daily from 10:00. Preview access is for registered bidders and invited guests, with public tickets also available. The two cars, the restored Classic and the first SV Ultra built for the US market, then cross the block in the live sale starting at 17:30 on 14 August.

This is a genuinely clever piece of brand storytelling, and beautifully executed with it. Rather than simply restoring an old Range Rover, Land Rover Classic has used one to demonstrate that the same design language works across three decades, and the Titan Silver paint on those upright 1993 lines looks superb. Selling it beside the modern car makes the point even sharper.
It is also a reminder of what an extraordinary Monterey sale this is shaping up to be, sitting alongside Nick Mason's McLaren F1 GTR. No estimate has been published for the pair, but 2,000 hours of Classic Works labour rarely comes cheap. We just hope they stay together.
