Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé Interior

AMG shows the interior of the new GT 4-Door Coupé

A cockpit built around pure performance

06/03/2026

At AMG, everything revolves around performance. But performance is not just about horsepower, acceleration or lap times.

According to Mercedes‑AMG, the experience begins long before the engine starts. With the interior of the new Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupé, Affalterbach aims to create exactly that sensation: a cockpit where every button, every screen and every detail is centred on control, speed and driving engagement.

The result is an interior that feels both sports‑car intense and Gran Turismo comfortable. Or, put simply: a cockpit that immediately makes you think, okay… I want to drive.

Sports‑car DNA with Gran Turismo comfort

The first thing you notice is the seating position. It sits strikingly low, comparable to the two‑seat AMG GT, placing the driver in the car rather than on top of it. That immediately creates a sporty, focused driving experience.

At the same time, this remains a true four‑seater. In the rear, AMG fits two individual seats as standard, offering a comfortable seating position and surprisingly generous legroom. Thanks to cut‑outs in the floor, a natural knee angle is created, making long journeys far more pleasant.

For those who want additional flexibility, an optional three‑seat rear bench is also available.

The idea is clear: sports‑car intensity up front, Gran Turismo comfort in the back.

The heart of the cockpit: control over driving dynamics

One of the most striking elements sits quite literally at the centre of the car: three new rotary controls for driving dynamics. They are prominently positioned on the centre console and fully oriented toward the driver.

Each dial controls a specific aspect of the car’s behaviour:

  • Response Control: determines how directly the electric motors respond to throttle input

  • Agility Control: influences how the car rotates around its vertical axis, essentially how sharply it turns into a corner

  • Traction Control: allows the driver to adjust slip and traction across 9 levels

That last feature feels straight out of motorsport, ranging from maximum stability to greater freedom for drivers who want to explore the limits.

An important detail: AMG deliberately chose physical rotary dials. In an era dominated by touchscreens, these haptic controls allow adjustments without taking your eyes off the road.

A digital cockpit with a clear focus

The dashboard is dominated by a wide digital display that visually reads as a single unit. At its core are two screens:

  • 10.2‑inch digital instrument cluster

  • 14‑inch central infotainment display

The central screen is slightly angled toward the driver, improving both readability and ergonomics.

Optionally, the passenger can receive their own 14‑inch display with separate content, allowing access to navigation, media or other functions without affecting the driver’s view.

The infotainment system runs on the new MB.OS platform, which deeply integrates software and cloud‑based functions.

Several display styles are available, including:

  • AMG Special with four performance‑focused screens

  • AMG Track Pace with telemetry and circuit data

  • Classic with navigation and efficiency information

AMG Performance steering wheel: control at your fingertips

The steering wheel is pure AMG: flat‑bottomed and designed for maximum grip. It is available in various finishes, from leather to carbon fibre and the motorsport‑inspired MICROCUT microfibre.

Two circular AMG control modules with small LCD displays allow you to adjust key driving functions and drive programmes via rotary or press inputs.

Behind the wheel sit shift paddles that can also be used to control regeneration settings.

Everything is designed with one goal in mind: maximum control without distraction.

Sport seats and extensive personalisation

The newly developed front seats offer strong lateral support, ideal when the pace increases. For those seeking an even more focused setup, AMG Performance seats are available with integrated headrests and visible motorsport‑inspired details.

Material and colour choice is extensive. AMG offers multiple interior themes, ranging from pure performance looks to more luxurious configurations.

And of course, there is MANUFAKTUR, Mercedes’ personalisation programme, allowing customers to specify unique colours, materials and finishes.

Panoramic roof with a spectacular light show

One of the most eye‑catching features is the panoramic glass roof with SKY CONTROL. The roof can be switched between transparent and opaque in multiple segments, depending on how much light you want inside.

At night, however, it becomes truly special.

The roof can transform into a light show featuring:

  • Illuminated AMG logos above driver and passenger

  • Motorsport‑style light stripes across the entire roof

All colour‑matched to the interior’s ambient lighting.

The effect is striking without becoming kitschy.

Light, design and technology as a cohesive whole

Ambient lighting plays a major role in shaping the interior atmosphere. A continuous light strip runs across the dashboard and doors, visually framing the cabin.

The air vents, finished in a distinctive chain‑link design, illuminate in various colours.

Additional highlights include:

  • Diamond stitching in the door panels

  • Metal speaker grilles of the Burmester 3D audio system

  • Floating armrests in the doors

The result is an interior that feels high‑tech, while still offering plenty of physical materials and textures.

AutoNext take

What AMG has done here feels deliberate and well thought‑out.

Strengths:

  • Clear driver‑centric focus

  • Smart combination of physical controls and touch input

  • Strong motorsport influences

  • Extensive personalisation options

Possible drawbacks:

  • Visually, the interior is quite busy

  • Some functions are still buried deep within the infotainment system

These are minor caveats. Overall, the interior feels exactly as you would expect from an AMG: intense, technological and slightly dramatic.

The ultimate performance cockpit

With the interior of the new Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupé, AMG wants to make one thing clear: performance is not just something you measure on paper. It is something you feel the moment you step inside.

With a driver‑focused cockpit, new driving‑dynamics controls and a blend of luxury and motorsport influence, that mission appears to be accomplished.

So the real question is: is this one of the most impressive performance interiors on the market today?
