Lynk & Co is bringing a 408 hp shooting brake to Europe, and not an SUV in sight
At last, a Chinese brand betting on the estate instead of yet another crossover
Finally, a carmaker reading the room. While almost everyone else launches another lookalike SUV, Lynk & Co has confirmed it will bring the 07 GT, a low-slung shooting brake, to Europe in 2027. It is exactly the kind of practical, good-looking estate that European buyers keep saying they want, and it is refreshing to see a young brand willing to take the punt.
A proper shooting brake shape
The 07 GT is pitched as a sport touring model, pairing the low, elegant lines of a grand tourer with the load-lugging usefulness of a roomy estate. Lynk & Co talks up sharp light signatures, muscular wheel arches and a striking sloping roofline, with a colour palette inspired by natural landscapes. Inside, the focus is a driver-centric cabin with premium materials, advanced connectivity and a versatile boot built for both the daily commute and longer trips away.
Around 408 hp, at least in China
Lynk & Co has not yet detailed the European powertrain, but the Chinese specification gives a strong hint at the car's ambitions. There, the 07 GT runs a plug-in hybrid pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of around 408 hp, offered in both rear- and all-wheel-drive forms. That is genuinely quick for a family estate, and it suggests the GT badge is more than decoration.
Europe gets its own version in 2027
The car has been revealed in China first, with the European launch set for 2027 and market-specific specifications, technology and safety features to follow. In Europe it will join the existing 01, 02 and 08, broadening Lynk & Co's line-up and, the brand hopes, drawing in new buyers chasing a mix of driving enjoyment, design, comfort and everyday practicality. Full European details, including powertrain choices and pricing, are still to come.
AutoNext Take
We have a soft spot for a good shooting brake, so a sharp-looking, 408 hp Lynk & Co estate is very welcome news in a market drowning in identikit crossovers. The big unknown is what actually reaches Europe: the Chinese plug-in hybrid is promising, but adaptation for our region could change the powertrain, the price and the appeal. It also lands at an awkward moment, with the EU weighing tariffs on Chinese plug-in hybrids that could blunt its value. Get the pricing right, though, and the 07 GT could be one of the more interesting left-field family cars of 2027.
If you love a fast estate, see the wild 800 hp Bovensiepen 05 GT super estate. The 07 GT's timing is tricky given the EU's planned tariffs on Chinese plug-in hybrids, and fellow Geely brand Polestar recently pulled out of the US.
