The X3 M is what happens when BMW's M division gets hold of a family SUV and refuses to compromise, and there will not be another one. Built from 2019 to 2024, it was the first car to use the S58 twin-turbo straight six that later powered the M3 and M4, with 480 hp in the X3 M and 510 hp in the Competition. Aim for the 2021 facelift, which gave the Competition 650 Nm and cut the 0 to 100 km/h time to 3.8 seconds. The price of all that pace is a ride that stays very firm even in its softest setting, and the current X3 generation tops out at the milder M50, so this is the last proper X3 M. Buy one if you want a practical daily SUV that genuinely drives like an M car, and check the service history and look for signs of hard track use.
