Tweedehands Cupra

Cupra started life in 1996 as a badge on the fastest SEATs, short for Cup Racing, and spent two decades earning a reputation on the Leon Cupra and in touring car championships. In 2018 SEAT took the unusual step of turning a trim level into a brand of its own, with a copper-coloured logo and a Barcelona attitude.

The gamble paid off faster than anyone expected. The Formentor, Cupra's first car designed from scratch, became a best-seller across Europe, the Born gave the brand a genuinely fun electric hatch, and the Ateca and Leon carried the performance flag. Cupra hit a million cars sold within seven years.

Today the range includes the Formentor, Leon, Ateca, Born, the electric Tavascan and the compact Terramar, with the Raval small EV on the way. Cupra is the Volkswagen Group's answer to buyers who find its other brands too sensible: sharp design, dark interiors and a little bit of Spanish heat.
