Tweedehands Ford EcoSport

The EcoSport lived in the shadow of the Puma for its last few years, and that is exactly why it can make sense on the used market. Only consider the facelifted version, built in Romania from late 2017 until production ended in December 2022: it is the better-finished car, with 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engines of 125 or 140 hp and a 1.5 EcoBlue diesel. The compromises are real, though: the tailgate is side-hinged and swings out, so it needs plenty of space behind the car, the boot is smaller than in most rivals, and the three-cylinder petrol's oil-bathed timing belt demands a full service history. Next to a Puma it feels older, but a well-kept EcoSport is an honest, raised-up small car at a used price. Buy one if you like a high seating position in a compact footprint and you rarely park with a wall or another car right behind you.
