If the Symbioz is Renault's sensible newcomer, the Austral is the polished all-rounder that anchors the SUV range. It punches above where its price sits, with an upmarket cabin, that big portrait touchscreen running Google, and a smooth E-Tech 200 hybrid that keeps running costs genuinely low. The 4Control four-wheel steering on higher trims makes it far more agile in town than a family SUV has any right to be. It is not the most exciting thing here, but as a do-everything family car it is seriously convincing.
