The Amarok is Volkswagen's pickup, built on the same bones as the Ford Ranger but with VW's own cabin and chassis tuning. The 3.0 V6 TDI with 237 hp and 600 Nm gives it towing muscle and long-distance manners the four-cylinder rivals lack, and every version tows the legal maximum of 3,500 kg. The trade-off is price: from €64,499 in Germany it sits well above the mainstream pickups, and in several markets it is now taxed as a passenger car rather than a van. Buy it if you tow heavy things regularly and want the most car-like pickup on sale.
