The S90 is Volvo's big executive saloon and the calm, Scandinavian answer to an E-Class or a 5 Series. From the 2018 model year Europe could also get the long-wheelbase version, which gives rear passengers real limousine legroom. Early cars run D4 (190 hp) and D5 (235 hp) diesels, the 2020 facelift brought mild-hybrid B engines, and the T8 plug-in hybrid reached 455 hp with a bigger battery in 2022. The compromise is under the bonnet: every version uses a 2.0 four-cylinder, which can sound ordinary in a car this size, and the S90 left the European range in 2024, so it is now a used-only buy.
