MTM teases new Audi RS5 with over 812 hp: the war between German tuners has begun
21/02/2026
Some announcements are subtle. Others are a clear warning.
MTM, short for Motoren Technik Mayer, long regarded as one of the defining references in Audi tuning, has just dropped a teaser that is waking up the performance world. In the image we see the brand‑new Audi RS5, with a single message underneath: 812 PS+.
That plus sign says everything.

MTM does what Audi itself does not dare to do
The new generation Audi RS5 has only just been unveiled, and MTM is already setting the tone. More than 812 hp. Even before all official figures are released. Even before extensive press drives.
For those unfamiliar with MTM: this is not some random garage with a laptop and a dyno. This is a tuner that has been pushing RS models into a different universe since the 1990s. Think of the legendary MTM RS6 Clubsport, the RS4 B5 with insane power figures, or their extreme R8 projects.
When MTM says “More Power. More Style. More You.”, they mean it.
812 hp… and that is not even the end point
The teaser explicitly states that the figures are still provisional. Development is ongoing. In other words, this is likely not even the final output. And that is where things start to get interesting.
The standard Audi RS5 is already a serious performance machine, but 812 hp puts it in an entirely different league. These are numbers more commonly associated with supercars than with a practical daily performance car. This will not be a fast RS5. This will be an Autobahn weapon.
The new RS5: the perfect base for overkill
The latest RS5 already features a more aggressive design, wider stance and more advanced technology than ever before. Sharp LED lighting, a massive grille, muscular wheel arches.
MTM takes it one step further. In the teaser image, we see a deep‑blue RS5 with black accents, huge ceramic brakes with red calipers, and a stance that clearly says one thing: no compromises.
The combination of quattro grip and 800+ hp leads to one inevitable conclusion. This thing will be brutally fast in a straight line and rock‑solid at high speed. And that is exactly where MTM has always excelled.
Why this matters
The performance world is changing. Electrification, hybrid systems, increasingly strict emissions regulations. Pure brute force is becoming rare.
Tuners like MTM prove there is still room for mechanical excess.
It is also a strategically smart move. Audi’s new RS models face growing competition from BMW M and Mercedes‑AMG. By teasing 812 hp straight out of the gate, MTM positions the RS5 well above its standard rivals.
AutoNext take
This is why tuning still matters. While the industry focuses on electrification and regulation, there are still players willing to ask a simple question: what if we push it even further?
812 hp in an RS5 is not rational.
But it is exactly what enthusiasts want to see.
And honestly, that “Stay Tuned” at the bottom of the teaser feels almost threatening. MTM is only just getting started.
