European competition law forbids a carmaker from making its warranty conditional on servicing inside its own dealer network. Regulation 461/2010 runs to May 2028 and says so plainly, yet claims still get refused. What actually decides them is the invoice: the schedule followed, the oil specification named, the parts identified, and a record the next owner can read.

Since 1 September 2024 nobody in the EU may sell a child seat approved to the old R44 standard, new or second-hand. Using the one already fitted in your car stays legal, with no end date. The orange label decides everything else: R44 sorts children by weight and never tested a side impact, R129 sorts them by height and does.
