Rezvani's Beast X is a Corvette you would never recognise, and just five will exist
Guess the car hiding under all that drama. It is a Corvette
Rezvani has a party trick, and it just played it again. The new Beast X looks like a concept car crossed with a Batmobile, all scissor doors, roof snorkel and stacked spoilers, and the game its reveal invites is to work out what is underneath. The answer is a Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray. Rezvani claims 1,560 hp and will build only five, with pricing yet to be announced. The disguise, it turns out, is the entire product.
What is actually under there
The base is Chevrolet's clever Corvette C8 E-Ray, which pairs a 6.2-litre V8 with an electric front axle. Rezvani adds twin turbos and claims a combined 1,560 hp and around 1,735 Nm, fed through the standard eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, with a quoted 0 to 100 km/h time of roughly two seconds. On top goes a completely new body: enormous front intakes, fender vents lifted straight from a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, scissor doors, a roof snorkel, twin hoop-shaped rear wings and a deep diffuser. Inside there is a full re-trim and a squared-off yoke steering wheel, all of it there to bury any hint of the Corvette underneath. Rezvani has not announced pricing yet, but with only five examples planned this will be a strictly limited and seriously expensive commission.
Treat the 1,560 hp with a raised eyebrow
That headline power figure deserves a pause. The Corvette E-Ray leaves the factory with around 655 hp, so Rezvani is claiming to have more than doubled it by bolting twin turbos onto an already hybridised V8. Boutique tuners are famously optimistic with these numbers, and Rezvani has not published independently verified output or a top speed. None of that means it is untrue, but until someone straps the Beast X to a dyno, 1,560 hp is best read as an ambition printed on a brochure rather than a proven fact.
Rezvani sells disguise, not engineering
This is the key to understanding the whole company. Almost every Rezvani is a familiar car hidden under theatrical bodywork: the Tank is a Jeep, the Dune is a Lamborghini Huracan, and now the Beast X is a Corvette. What you are paying for is not re-engineering, it is drama, rarity and the fact that nobody will recognise what you are driving. That is the opposite of the tradition where a specialist genuinely rebuilds a car's core, like 9ff turning a 911 into a Veyron-beater or Manthey sharpening a Porsche with factory-grade parts. Those firms sell how a car goes. Rezvani sells how it looks, and how little you can tell about it.
The value question, whatever the price turns out to be
Rezvani has not put a number on the Beast X yet, but the shape of the deal is already clear. You start with a Corvette E-Ray, a car of around 655 hp that is superb value in its own right, and you pay a hefty premium for bodywork, a full re-trim and the near-certainty that nobody will recognise what you are driving. Whatever the final figure, it will not buy a faster lap than the Corvette underneath, or than a loaded ZR1X. It buys drama and rarity, five examples worldwide, the same attention-economy logic behind Mansory's wilder creations. It is an extremely elaborate, and soon to be extremely expensive, way to make a Corvette anonymous.
AutoNext Take
It is easy, and quite fun, to mock a supercar-money body kit on a Corvette, and the unverified 1,560 hp claim does the mockers no harm. But it is worth being fair about what Rezvani is and is not trying to do. It is not pretending to have out-engineered Chevrolet; it is selling theatre, exclusivity and disguise to people who want their car to look like nothing else on the road, and it commits to that idea completely, snorkel and all.
So the real question is not whether the Beast X is good value, because by any rational measure it is not. It is whether you think a car should be judged by how it drives or by how it makes you feel walking up to it. Rezvani has bet its whole business on the second answer, and for five buyers with half a million dollars and a taste for the outrageous, it will be exactly right. For everyone else, the Corvette underneath was always the better car. Pick your truth.
